It looks like we got about a foot and a half last night on top of the foot or so below it. But we got really high winds that caused major drifting, so there are a few spots spots that have practically nothing, and many other spots (near buildings, the vehicles, and the Airstream) where it's about six feet deep. Kind of hard to dig out with a tractor that stands less than five feet!
The weather reports differ, but one report indicates that we may have a less snowy day tomorrow. So we've forged a plan to try with our remaining gasoline to dig our way with the tractor to the vehicles and extract at least one of them. Maybe we can at least have some real wheels!

Don't know where you are today , but I was just on SPI yesterday and other than some tiles off the roof of some houses and a couple of businesses , then the island looks great ( weather withstanding). Have fun ...there is a public campground on northern end that is $25 day ...$350 mo. that is full-hook-up and some empty spaces.

On the Beach!
I arrived two days ago (late evening) to be greeted by a fog! Yesterday had some sun and today is foggy again. Oh well. In any case its warm out and the sand is sand like.
I saw one airstream when I was pulling in and getting water, there is an Argosy motor home, and the airstreamer couple I know from southern Illinois. There is lots of trash on the beach but other than that the beach is nice.
Do any of you locals know of a RV storage site here in the area. The couple from Illinois is less enthusiastic about towing every year and might want to store locally. I'm in town today getting provisions and fishing gear! Pics to come.

Rodney;
You have too much sand down there. How about coming a little further north. We have plenty of white stuff to let you basque in. Hope you locate some good seafood down there. Hope to see you in your travels this next summer.

Storage: Best available is
Weber Creek Storage

Manager is Harry Lundgard. Open, covered and covered with electric. Recent expansion. I pulled my Silver Streak out a few weeks ago to start some maintenance work, plan to have it back ASAP. WCS is along Oso Creek, past Saratoga and Yorktown on Weber Road. From PINS, take TX-358 to the Crosstown Expwy, south (away from downtown), exit Saratoga, T-L to Weber, T-R and go about a mile. On right.
Hope your checking weather forecast. Today should be 80F. Sunday back to 45F high, Monday/Tuesday back to sub-40F nights.

I am indeed, Last night was quite breezy! We were going to voyage down beach to the pass today but opted out due to the weather, maybe Tuesday.
I saw one of those conversion van Airstreams sitting on the beach coming into town. We are all basically just hunkering down for the time being here, waiting out the weather. It looks like we have some OK weather after Monday.

Plenty of sand, and that is a fact. No doubt I will still be sweeping it out for the next year. Had some wonderful shrimp last night and have had a bit of the catch of the day depending on our luck fishing. You know, it is almost time to start figuring out where I will be going next year. If I am very lucky I will meet more of you out there and visit with those of you I have met before.

Driven off the beach....
The tide and wind have conspired against me staying on the beach (it got up to my door yesterday afternoon and will likely be higher today) so I have retreated to Bird Island CG here in the park for a bit. It was rough going towing out this morning, suffice it to say NOTHING is in its assigned place anymore. On the up side, I just looked at the weather everyone else is having right now and I have to say that cool and overcast could be much worse indeed.....

I'm looking forward to that! It looks like the next week will have some rewarding days weather wise. It sure is nicer out here than most places in the US right now. If all works out I hope to take one of the nice days for a trip to the wildlife refuge and maybe a trip down beach if the 4x4 group gets it together (I have 2wd only).

sun today
We got some sun again today, windy and mid 70s I guess. I laid about and spent some time photographing the sailboarding crowd. I snagged this shot at the end of the day.

Rodney, we've had more than 2 feet of snow in the past two weeks. Had a challenging trip across the mountains yesterday coming home from the in-laws in Pueblo. The mountains are covered in white as is everything else and all is serene under a blue sky. At 9 am, 6˚. I feel soooo sorry for you lounging about on the beach.
Great photo at the end of the day. You could be taking pictures of snowboarders, of course. Make the best of your plight.

Rodney, we sure enjoyed boondocking with you on Padre. Did you have time to visit the wildlife refuge? How was the rest of your trip?
