Don't know if you need to have a trailer weighed (but it will need to be inspected in any event I think?). Confused folks at the Travis County (Austin) had a hard time understanding that, although an Airstream (by make), it was not a "travel trailer" (by model) which appears to be their definition of an Airstream. It was only after they classified my vehicle as a "motorhome" that the need for a "weigh slip" became a requirement. Maybe someone else on the Forum with travel trailer titling experience can comment on weights and inspection for Travis?
Located all three CAT weigh stations within 50 miles of Austin..go to
CAT Scale
I now have a 30 day reprieve from Travis County which can be extended "due to mechanical" issues so seem to be safe to avoid penalties!
C'est la guerre!

Hard to believe the closest weigh scale to Austin is south of San Marcos. Travis County did not tell us we had to weigh ours...just get an inspection. Guess they need to confirm it is what we say it is.

Since tax is paid by weight and your title apparently had no weigh info, you will have to provide it.
When I titled my 345 in Texas with Alabama title and plates, I only had to provide insurance coverage. The only confusion I had to deal with was the Airstream VIN was a 1987 and GMC Vin a 1986. My insurance company issued a certificate as a 1986 and DMV told me its a 1987, just as the Alabama title said. They made me sign a change of year certificate for it to be a 1986, but once I received the title it was title as a 1987

all of these have truck scales ,
and yes you have to weigh your out of state titled travel trailer if the old title does not show the weight of the trailer.

Yes Chris and you are quite welcome. I've been a bit busy but glad to see you are making progress.

If your coach came from Washington I'm surprised the weight wasn't on the paperwork. They do like their tax $$$ around here. As for scales in addition to what has been listed look for large construction suppliers with rock and sand, a lot of them have scales.

Good luck.

Dan..although the coach was registered and came form Washington State, it was still titled in Tennessee (don't know how this happened!) and no docs mentioned weight. although the sales tax is calculated against the purchase price, the actual road tax seems to be based on weight.

Hey Danny..turns out that 9405 Dessau road is only a few miles from so will call-in on Monday and see if they have a working scale...place looks a bit run-down so mmmmm! Thanks for the suggestions but may end-up driving to my local CAT location.

Scrap yards typically invoke that conclusion.
Sounds like a perfectly respectable place of business.

This evening, Chris and I had a discussion about his airbag carrier issues.
According to his shop the extreme tilt we saw straightened itself out and the bags are upright now.
It seems the traverse rod (dogbone) pins travel in an oblong space in his 91 (first picture), whereas in 85 the pins are in a rubber bushing (second picture).
I think the 91 shows extreme wear, allowing the airbag carrier to tilt dangerously. What do you guys think ??

Austin Texas weigh scale found

Peter..thanks for opening-up this question for discussion. This link remided me to post a link to "Where to get your AS weighed in Austin without heading up or down I35"
The answer is Central Transport Systems for about $7 at the corner of Howard Lane and Dessau Road. Here is the link:
