Seattle Area Seafood Restaurant

Our summer travels takes us to Seattle area late August 2104. Looking for a good local place for fresh seafood. Staying at Everette campground.

Waterfront always nice but if food is good doesn'tmatter

Suggestions welcome.

Well, it may be considered more a chain than local. However, the bar at McCormick and Schmicks overlooking Lake Union is our favorite place for a happy hour that becomes our supper in Seattle. At that time of day, dress is casual, the atmosphere, food, and view are a treat. After you eat, you can stroll over to visit The Center for Wooden Boats. McCormick and Schmicks web site has a link to their menu including their Happy Hour menu.

We're way overdo for a trip out that way again. We enjoy visiting the Seattle area.

My wife and I travel to Portland and Seattle where there is a great restaurant called "Salty's". The one in Seattle is on the waterfront in Northwest Seattle with a fantastic view of the city and even better service and fresh fish. Love the crab cakes, Halibut and Martini's........yum Here is their website Bon Appetit: Salty's Waterfront Seafood Grills - Welcome!

Also in West Seattle are two fish and chips places that are very good. The Spud and Sunfish, both on Alki Beach. Very good and not that expensive. Can't beat the view nor the price.

Or since you are north of Seattle, go to Taylor's Seafood Farm just north of Mt. Vernon on Chuckanut drive (Taylor Shellfish Samish Farm Store). Buy fresh oysters, clams, Dungeness crab and fix it yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Chinook's at Salmon Bay

Chinook's at Salmon Bay overlooks the harbor where the salmon fleet docks. Good food and lots of glass to look out at the boats. It is also quite close to the Ballard Locks. If you haven't seen the Ballard Locks you ought to sink a couple of hours into it. They are locks like a miniature Panama Canal. It is where boats and small ships go from the Puget Sound up to Lake Washington. (and back). It is run by the US Army Corps of Engineers and is free. They will even let you walk across the top of the locks. (when not open).
Finally, there are salmon ladders next to it and you can watch the salmon go up lake. There are also flower gardens there.

A second for Ivar's! That has been a MUST stop whenever I have been in Seattle. Went there, for the 1st time in 1962, and have eaten there (at least once) on every return trip since.

Ivar's also came to my mind. We had a nice lunch there and enjoyed watching the Bremerton Ferry travel back and forth as we ate.

Try one of the many Ivar's. Each one has a specialty.

Maybe I hit an off day, but the only Ivar's I have tried was in the food court at Bellis Fair Mall. Their "famous" clam chowder was akin to wallpaper paste. Over salted and over floured.

But, being a food court, quality control is often an issue.
