Scenic route

178 from Indian wells valley to almost Bakersfield is as nice as Sedona. You drive thru a bit of Sequoia NF which is beautiful. There is a beautiful river that runs along 178 for about 10 miles. Well worth the visit if you are out this way.

I drove by Lake Isabella in California once. Seem to recall the downhill route being pretty steep and narrow in spots.
