Sarasota Fl to Charleston SC Question

Heading up to James County Park outside Charleston from Sarasota. Looks like it might be a little long for a straight trip. Any good suggestions for a lay over? It would just be a night but like to stay in a decent place if possible.I'm thinking its about an 8 hour drive minimum?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For a little change of pace try stopping at Darien, GA. There is a pretty nice campground there. Great seafood with a taste of older, slower days. The shrimp and fishing boats tie up at the waterfront.

We take our annual trip to myrtle beach and go the back way around Charleston. The KOA is nice at the border, but we like Crooked River State Park in St Mary's the best.

We have stopped twice at Blythe Island Campground, a county park at Brunswick, GA. It's basic, but well maintained and convenient. If you continue a few more miles up the road to Darien as suggested, and feel like unhooking, check out Skipper's Fish Camp, right on the docks in downtown Darien. It's not really a fish camp, but a good restaurant, on the expensive side, but EXCELLENT seafood. No good parking for a TV and trailer.

If you want something conveniently located off I-95 with pull through full hookup level concrete landscaped sites then Coastal Georgia RV Resort in Brunswick, Ga is your place. It's our go through place every time we travel from our home in Venice, Fl heading north. Google it & be sure to make a reservation as they host many rally's year round.

Depending on when you cut over to the east coast, you might consider Stephen Foster State Park off I-75 just north I-10.

Anastasia SP right on the beach at St. Augustine is a beautiful spot. If you haven't been to St. Augustine, spend half a day there and still make Charleston that night.
