Safest Hwy Findlay Ohio to Orlando FL

Hi everyone! Looking for the safest way to travel from Findlay Ohio to Orland FL. We actually don't have an Airstream, just taking our minivan But my husband thought that this would be a good group of people for good advice! Thanks!!

I would just make my way over to I 75 and head south. Try to time Dayton, Cincinatti, and particularly Atlanta for non rush hour. Go straight thru the cities. Pick up the FL turnpike at wildwood and in another hour you are in Orlando. Maybe not the most scenic but fast and efficient and no serious construction problems outside Ohio. Haven't been north of Dayton in a while.

Ditto on I-75. No serious grades. Not the most scenic but easy cruising and always gas/diesel available near most any exit.

We lived outside of Vanlue towards Findlay from 1985-1990. We moved to Kenton and I work in Findlay.

The important piece of advise is to time your trip so that you pass through Dayton, Cincinnati and Atlanta during non-rush hour time. Depending upon your trip time and
any overnight stays, ALWAYS spend the night "through" any of the cities. In this case, stop south of any of the cities - don't get up in the a.m and have to drive through any of them. You leave today and you should be in Orlando tomorrow. One time, several years ago, I left Orlando in the early a.m. and was in Columbus, OH that evening. I was returning a friends sports car to Columbus - it was really a fun drive.
But, I couldn't do it again. We try to cover 250 - 300 miles per day pulling our Airstream - we like having time to enjoy the end of day activitiesl Everyone to his own so you'll know how you best travel. I-75 through Findlay is by far your best bet. It's a nice drive - easy and safe. ENJOY!!

ps - we lived on the east side of Findaly for three years - Queenswood Dr. in an eight family townhouse complex. We were the only non-marathon folks in the townhouse. We were there when our neighbor was in Alaska bidding on the north slope for Marathon - neat stories he had about his experiences. Lots of $$$ to spend.

Ohh my goodness! I know thoses exact condos I lived on Foxfire growing up, so pretty close!
Anyway, thanks for the tips on the big city driving...living in Vanlue we only need to deal with 1 blinking light! I think we are going to try to drive a few hours one night after my hubby gets off work and stay south of lex, then drive maybe 8 hours the next day and find somewhere good south of atlanta....Anything neat to see around there? We should have an evening to look around if there are any state parks near i75 that would be great! My husband's Dad took pictures for a guy that sold them to calendars and Nat Geo, so he has camped in some pretty amazing area's of the US. But with no airstream and 3 kids 6 & under camping is out of the pic for a while But we would love to stop if there is anything neat along the way!!
Thanks again everyone!

Agreed on I75 with Atlanta being the biggest concern. The rest are easy compared to it. We got a flat in the Knoxville area and found a great shop that got us on the road in no time.

I also concur I 75 Best bet. I would think it will all be about timing.
I would look at the ODOT website to see if there are going to be lane closures in the Dayton area. I think the best advise you have had here is about the timing and the driving past the major metro areas,so you dont have to drive thru them first thing in the morning.
GOOD LUCK
