RV Parks in Salt Lake City

We will be attending a funeral next week in Salt Lake City. We're still debating whether to fly there, or take our trailer.

However, I would appreciate any suggestions on possible RV sites in that area in case we do decide to take the AS.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear of your loss...

Since you didn't indicate the portion of Salt Lake City in which you wish to stay, below is information on a couple of campgrounds within 30-60 minutes of the city center.

There is a campground in Jordanelle State Park in Park City, but I suspect that location may be too inconvenient, considering the nature of your trip.

==========

Willard Bay State Park - Willard Creek Campground
900 W 650 N
Willard, UT
435-734-9494

GPS: 41° 25.158'N, 112° 3.171'W

Paved interior roads and parking pads. Campsites have metal patio cover over metal picnic tables on concrete pad, with BBQ stand and fire ring. Some sites have shade trees and others are in full sun. Flush toilets, showers, dump station. Some RV sites have full hookups.

Lots of bugs in warm weather due to proximity to lake. When we were there, a sign at the entrance indicated campground was scheduled to be fogged for mosquitos.

OK for an overnight stay; but, besides bugs, there is lots of highway noise from I-84/I-15, which is immediately adjacent to the campground. Campground was full for Memorial Day holiday weekend 2014, because of the "grand re-opening" of this state park after temporary closure for partial refurbishment.

RATES: Full hookups $28, tent sites $20.

==========

Brigham City/Perry South KOA
1040 West 3600 South
Brigham City, UT 84302
Reserve: 800-562-0903
Info: 435-723-5503

GPS: 41° 26.694'N, 112° 2.449'W

Gravel interior roads and parking pads. Older property with large shade trees and swimming pool. Appears to have typical KOA amenities.

Website: Brigham City / Perry South KOA | Camping in Utah | KOA Campgrounds

RATES: Full hookups $40-50.

Note: We have never been to this KOA.

==========

Utah Lake State Park Campground
4400 West Center Street
Provo, UT 84601
801-375-0731

GPS: 40° 14.358'N, 111° 44.150'W

Paved interior roads & parking pads. Covered picnic tables. Can be very windy at times. Lots of bugs in warm weather, due to proximity to lake.

RATES: Water & electric $25, additional vehicle $10.

Rv parks in salt lake city

Check out Pony Express RV Resort (800 780 0170 ). I've stayed there several times when conducting business. It is very convenient to Downtown, I 215 and I 15. Not a "vacation-type" location but given the nature of your visit, may be a good option for you. I've also stayed at Jordanelle State Park located on US 40 about 5 miles south of I 80. Definitely more scenic but about 30 miles outside of Salt lake Valley. Hope this helps.

There's also the Salt Lake KOA (1400 West North Temple) which is five minutes from downtown, if you are interested. The Willard Bay campground is nice, but about 40 minutes north of downtown.

The Salt Lake KOA is unbeatable for convenience to downtown. A free shuttle runs to the downtown area every 30 minutes. We stayed there a month in 2013 while my wife did genealogy research. The convenience of being close to downtown easily offsets the pricier KOA rates, especially if you would have to drive back and forth from a more distant campground. And you can't beat "free" for the shuttle.

We stayed in Manti (?) just north of Ogden, very nice park close to a Mormon Temple, with our Passport America it was very inexpensive.

I think it was called Temple RV...it was an older jellystone park but very nice.

While in Salt Lake City hit Craigslist and go out and visit Mountain Airstream.....it's right on the interstate. We were thorugh there earlier this month.

Manti is 150 miles south of Salt Lake, on U.S. Highway 89. There is a "Temple Hill Resort" RV park there. The Mormon temple there is one of the earlier ones, and perhaps most picturesque in its setting. There is also a "Temple View RV Resort" in St. George (whose temple is another of the early and prettier ones), which is 300 miles southwest of Salt Lake on Interstate 15. There is a "Century RV Park" near Ogden, but the Willard Bay campground mentioned in earlier posts is just north of Ogden. I second that suggestion about stopping by the Airstream dealer.

OH, I remember now, we stayed at another mobile home park/ campground up by Ogden, it was a mobile Home park/campground next to the McDonalds..... it was pretty nice.

we don't have an itinerary, just hit public librarys for wi fi and figure out where too next.

The place we stayed was nice and a PA campground $16 for full hookups. I could never get the hang of the reservation system for Willard park. I th8ink it was $28 too.
