RV Parks around Carrabelle, Florida

Getting ready to leave the mountains for awhile and head to Carrabelle, Florida. Was looking to spend the month of April at Sunset Isle RV& Yacht Club. We are looking for a spot that is dog friendly, nice beaches nearby and most of all warmer with no snow ( first day of spring we received another foot of the white stuff). Has anyone stayed there? Are there nicer campgrounds in the general area? Any and all advice is welcome.

We have stayed at Ho-Hum RV park and find it one of the nicest places in town. The entire facility is gravel but you are right on the water. Be sure to stop at Millender's Seafood Market for some fresh oysters. The local history museum is also very interesting.

Ho-Hum RV Park is an excellent choice, especially if you get one of the waterfront sites. The above pic looks exactly like one we have from January 2013. Also visit Apalachacola while there approximately 25-30 minutes to the west, great walking around place.

We also love Ho-Hum RV Park and stop every time we go through Florida, dog friendly park and beach. Water very shallow and calm, great for kayaking. Be sure to eat at the Fisherman's Wife. Call for reservation.

Florida State Parks are usually nice places to stay, but limit stays to 14 days. St George Island SP and St Joseph Peninsula SP are both near Carrebelle. Both are remote with St Joseph more so than St George, so be sure to stock the pantry before going. St George is the nicer of the two parks buts the sites in the "Gulf Breeze" loop at St Joseph are the closest to the ocean.

Remember its not the destination, but rather the journey.... its what's in the middle that matters the most!

We stayed 2 nights at Sunset Isle a few weeks ago. OK place. Nice layout and nice sites spaced out well. Looked to be all back in if it matters. The weather was on the cool side when we were there but I didn't see any beach nearby. Certainly not in walking distance. Not sure if there were beaches in the nearby area since we weren't looking for any. Not much in the area we took a drive over to Appalachacola just for a day trip. It was good for us, we were just passing through not sure I would want to stay put though. The price was right since it's a Passport location. There was another RV park just west of the town with a beach area across the road. Looked to be packed in pretty tight and we just drove by. Where are you in the Adirondacks ???? I went to college at Paul Smiths and have family in the Brant Lake area. Great country.

Ho Hum at Carrabelle, FL

We vote for Ho Hum as well. You will have to bring your own wine along with your Airstream. Only full hookups and the view are included with the site

It looks like Ho Hum is a favorite. We'll definitely have to check it out. There are a lot to choose from in the general area. Sunset Isle RV & Yacht is more expensive than others in the area. Thanks for all the suggestions. Scheduled to leave New York on 3/28 however the truck (F350 Diesel) just went into the shop with a intermittent rough idle. I'm lucky the problem happen around home, better now than on the road.

Polarlyse, We're west of Lake George in a place called Athol. Not too far from Brant Lake. My son's wedding reception was at Jimbos on the Lake. Lived her for about 28 years and love the area. If you are into camping and everything outdoors you can't find a much better place than the Adirondacks.
