RV Park Recommendation in Flagstaff

We will be in Flagstaff starting tomorrow night and I am looking for a suggestion as to the best RV park in the area. I dont think there are any National Parks in the immediate area with even elec and water, so an RV park is great. We are particularly fond of trees, etc. We are just going to be there for one or two nights so it is OK if it is a little bit expensive. WE are in Albuquerque tonight and it has gotten much colder and the rain is coming down.

We stayed a J&H RV Park this summer and enjoyed it very much. Think we were there for four nights. It's a senior park (over 55) but I think they're flexible with that.

We stayed in the Bonita NFS campground 12 miles north of Flagstaff near Sunset Crater National Monument in August. A really beautiful campground but no electricity.

There is a full hookup campground at the south rim of the Grand Canyon, not close, but a National Park with full hookups.

We have stayed at the Woody Mountain Campground which has tall pine trees and is convenient to town. About $31 a night. http://www.woodymountaincampground.com/

A few years ago we stayed at Munds Park a few miles south of Flagstaff. I believe it's still there, just Googled it and it came up. Was a nice park, we enjoyed our stay of about a week. Being south of Flagstaff, it adds a few mile to the Grand Canyon drive, but is very handy to the Sedona and Oak Creek areas. Just another option you might consider.

Woody Mtn & 1/2 mile away Kit Carson, both with tall pines @ the west end of town. North east end of town have stronger winds, rains more & dust from the cement plant and brick factory. Black Bart's mostly a sunny flat rv park up against the freeway

* Bonito National Forest Service Campground -- Located at entrance to Sunset Crater National Monument, a few miles north of Flagstaff city limits at summit where mountains drop to desert floor headed to North Rim, Lake Powell and Four Corners. Only a few minute's drive from town -- Flagstaff RD - Bonito Campground

* 35° 1.623'N 111° 26.555'W -- Our favorite boondocking site on National Forest land near Ashurst Lake, a few miles south of Flagstaff. (Shhhh -- Don't tell anyone else about this place!) It's a couple of miles from one of those funky trees that cell phones/modems like, which would blend in pretty good except for being twice as tall as every other tree in the area and having really odd shaped branches.

* Pine Grove National Forest Campground -- About a half mile away from the boondocking location above, across the highway to the west. Pine Grove has paved roads and sites, flush toilets, showers and a dump station, if that is more to your liking. Or, you can boondock near Ashurst Lake, and then shower and dump your tanks at Pine Grove on the way out (for a fee). -- http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fs...ove+Campground

* Flagstaff KOA | Camping in Arizona | KOA Campgrounds -- KOA on US-89 in north Flagstaff, near Flagstaff Mall; borders on National Forest land where there are good hiking trails that originate at edge of KOA property. Watch for trees that reach out and try to grab your Airstream. Site #152 in the far northwest corner is really nice, because it has a large grassy area, BBQ and borders on the National Forest area. However, it is costs extra and frequently is reserved or taken by groups. Cheap gas directly across the intersection from the KOA entrance at two gas station/convenience stores.

* Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA | Camping in Arizona | KOA Campgrounds -- KOA on I-40 about 20 miles west of Flagstaff, near the Grand Canyon Railrroad Depot in Williams, AZ. Typical KOA with nice indoor pool; cell tower within rock throwing distance from campground.

There is an RV park here, too; but it's basically a parking lot (like the casinos) for people staying over to ride the train. There are a couple of more RV parks in Williams, but none are very scenic. I think they are intended for I-40 overnight campers, just resting for the night.

I stayed at the KOA a couple of years ago and its very close to town, good facilities and a lot of trees!

We generally enjoy stays at KOAs but we did not enjoy the Flagstaff KOA. The staff was inexcusably rude, which turned to insincere patronization ... even less becoming. We will never stay there again. Ever. We do like Bonito and Pine Grove mentioned above...

Heheh....we actually got kicked off a Walmart parking lot in Flagstaff boondocking in the late 90s when I was in college. I think we just left early and drove out to the north rim and spent a few nights before we continued on to Las Vegas.

My stay at the Flagstaff KOA was similar. I had my 310 motorhome at that time and they put me in a spot which was off level in two directions and completely impossible to use for me. I walked around until I found a spot that might work, and went back to ask if I could use that one. They were not happy with me for complaining and were rude about moving me. They offered absolutely no apology for my problem and indifferent to any leveling issues that motorhomes have. It had trees, but nothing else to compensate for the place and staff attitude. I also would never go back there.

Just an FYI.. We ended up staying at the J&H RV park and it was one of the nicest we have stayed in. The park is spotless and the owner is very helpful.

We stayed at the KOA in Flagstaff last summer and did not like the experience either. Our spot was so tight that the large 5er that came in could barely fit. The other side was taken by what looked to be a permanent resident with a large dog with a questionable personality. There was no place to sit outside our trailer.

We will be returning to the area next summer and will look at some of the other sites mentioned here.

We stayed here the night of 9/15/12.
It is a very nice campground. It is a few miles off the interstate, so fairly quiet. I would recommend it to anyone. If we stay in Flagstaff again, it will be our first choice.

We just returned from a 2700 mile tour of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona. Stayed in several campgrounds.
THE KOA IN FLAGSTAFF was one of the WORST experiences in our travels.
We had made reservations almost a month in advance.
Upon our arrival we found the campsite to be difficult to back in. The picnic table was covered with food particles and spilled liquids.
When we asked to have it cleaned. The manager was dispicably rude and actually said "Do you want the site or not?"
I had one of the chock blocks in my hand and was real tempted to clock him with it.
We got our money back and left.
I would not recommend this KOA to my worst enemy!
