RV Park Near Allen, Texas

Hi All,

The wife and I are looking to take a class in Allen, Tx, Oct.16 thru the 19th, this month. We are looking for a safe RV Park location near Allen or Plano, Tx. All the locations we able to research, the comments were not encouraging.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Look at Lewisville Lake Park Municipal Park. Lewisville is just West of Allen. 972.219.3742

The only place we've stayed that was remotely close that I could recommend is Destiny RV Resort, technically in Corinth, south of Denton on I-35E at Exit 460. It is roughly 30 miles from Allen and depending on time of day and traffic, the 1-way commute could be 45 minutes to a well over an hour.

Thanks all for getting back to me so quickly.

Right now, Lake Ray Roberts looks like a good bet but is Lewisville closer? I was told Ray Roberts is about 27 miles from Allen. I was given no information about traffic. These rates are much more reasonable than Destiny. I figure I could use the difference to pay for gas.

However, I was given some info about Melissa, Tx (Wildwood Rv Park and Texas RV Ranch). Looks like different RV Parks, run by the same people. Would anyone have any info on them?

You might look at Shady Creek in Aubrey if you wany a commercial park. It has great reviews kn TripAdvisor.com. I know Weaselmouth full timed there while he worked in Dallas and they are pretty particular about where they put down temporary roots

All are quite from from here in Allen. I would look at the COE parks on Lavon Lake such as East Fork. Collin Park Marina is privately run so may be open.
If you want a state park, Bonham State Park may be a few miles farther than Ray Roberts but I think would be a much easier drive into Allen though not as nice as Ray Roberts.

Can I ask what is being offered here?

If there is any other thing I can do while your here, like recommend where to eat, let me know.

When is your class? I could go check these out but this weekend I am going to the Texas Vintage Rally.

Looking on Google I see the Texas RV Ranch has 7 pads. It is not a much. The Wildwood address on the map does not show anything.

I recommend East Fork Park (COE) on Lavon Lake, but it may not be open.

Thanks again all.

Here is a update for Allen, TX area. Due to the Government Shutdown, the COE has forced all of it residents into the surrounding RV Parks for the foreseeable weeks and months. People have paid in advance to run into Next year.

We have started to look further out with success. We ran into a couple instances of price gouging.

We have a little more that a week before we need to be there. Hope the shutdown situation has been resolved by then. Things should open some. Thanks again for all your kindness.

BTW, the wife and I are Custom Engravers. We are updating our skills.

Bad as traffic is in DFW I would not try to get off of US75 to find a park if it meant going to IH35 north of IH635 due to congestion. Though it's been a few years the ex and I used Sandy Lake for vists back to Dallas as an exception. Cannot be beaten for access to all "big roads" due to Tollroad/IH35 location (said as a 50-yr native). Other threads on here, do a search.

Point well taken. We will see what the state of affairs are in a week.

Thanks
