RV park App

I just finished traveling 5 states and using Good Sam directory and I found it did not list many I seen on google. I don't like parking lots and found it challenging at times. I struggled going through Utah and after I found a campground only to find a nicer one just down the road but not listed. Is there a source that displays all campgrounds?

It has been our experience that no app covers all campgrounds. We've been using RVPARKY for several years now, and are for the most part satisfied with it.

One does occasionally come across campgrounds not in the Apps, as I would guess campgrounds subscribe to be listed or not, but they are overall very inclusive, and it is so much easier to use an app than to lug around and pore thru books.

In my opinion.

Allstays is our go to app.

Ultimate US Campgrounds is what we use for non-commercial campsites - COE, Forest Service, municipal, county, state, BLM, etc. Mike

We find that Allstays lists just about every campground and we like the map feature very much.

If you have access to a web browser, Campendium is a good source for in depth reviews of various campgrounds and camping sites. Unfortunately, as of now, Campendium does not have an app, hence the need to use a browser (and their web site is not particularly mobile friendly.)

That's a strong point of campendium.com - they collect user ratings and reviews.

If I'm planning ahead for a spot in a certain area, campendium.com does a great job. It is, as noted, a web app so it's not great for mobile.

On the move, AllStays is superb especially on travel days in remote areas, where you want to know about *any* places to camp for the night. The realtime mapping works great, you can see when you are approaching a campsite, a WalMart, a rest stop.

I use both.

The Allstays App has Canadian listings as well. Not sure if it's as comprehensive as the U.S. listings, but it's pretty good. Of course, you need cell service (or wifi) in Canada to use this.

mapping/campground

I have searched this forum and googled myself to distraction.
Is there an app that shows elevation profiles/grades AND campgrounds? If not, which app are folks using for elevation/grade information?
We are in our third year with our 25ft FC and looking to go farther afield ...

We use AllStays Camp&RV app which shows all campgrounds and many other RV facilities, WallyWorlds, low bridges, LP stores etc. You can turn on and off filters if the maps get too busy. - Brad

We use several hard copy books and web based sites as well. No, there is no one single source. Also, what some people think, is not what others see. The guy with hearing aids is not bothered by the train that drives the light sleeper nuts and the kids swarming through the camp sites are cute to some folks and horrible interlopers to others. So, a variety of input helps. But, your eyes are the best solution. Sometimes you just have to look and decide after you eyeball the park.

Prior planning with two to four alternatives for each stop over is a good way to insure fewer disappointing stays. We travel without reservations, so often the first choice is full up, too expensive for the available sites, or not as advertised. That makes our second or third option often the solution. We see the exercise as part of the adventure in our trips.

Books
- Good Sam (they sell an atlas RV parks marked with red and black dots)
- Passport America (gives you a half price option)
- Woodalls (AAA sells - provide a rating perspective that some like)
- KOA (the catalog is more accurate info on their parks than websites)
- The East and West Mountain directory (www.mountaindirectory.com)

Aps
- We like RV Parky (We got used to it, because it was there)
- Allstays (We don't find the value to purchase, but grade data may grab us)
- RV Park Reviews (We have reviewed a few parks to pay back a bit)
- Google maps satellite view (trail tracks, highway proximity, general layout)

We are a bit Ludite, so the books are a tool we like. But the internet resources are part of the planning process. We start a spread sheet each year and add interesting parks and attractions that folks post so we have them to consider as options on our trips too.

Travel safe. Pat

a tip.. when you have connectivity... check out the COE, National and State parks.. somewhere near you will find rv parks... Checking out other RV sites will reveal other places...

A great source is to post here where you think you will travel... others may have passed that way and have input...
