RV campgrounds in Florida

I need suggestions for good campgrounds all up and down Florida. I have a 30 foot Airstream and will be traveling the east coast, the west coast, and the interior. I would appreciate your ideas. Thanks

Check out allstays.com and search for the types of CG's you like. Florida gets busy so you will want to be making reservations at the popular spots.

Get busy making your reservations for the state parks. I REALLY like Anastasia (St. Augustine); Oscar Shearer (Nokomis). I have not been to our local Koreshan (Fort Myers) but several people I know say it is nice. I like Anastasia because it is natural and right around the corner from rental boating and the beach in the park. Nokomis beach is fantastic. The water is clear and well, just visit. The beach is just south of the campground. There is a great fish restaurant down that way too- shack on the water with a dock and all kinds of water birds may look you eye to eye and try to eat your lunch! These are all woody campgrounds with water and electric - dump station instead of site.

Fort DeSoto Park in St. Pete is a County park and very nice! There is also Wekiwa Springs in Orlando area. Fort Wilderness at Disney is a good one too!

Red Coconuts is directly on the beach in Ft. Myers and is beautiful! I'm in the interior (Lake Placid, FL) so if you come this way, let me know and I'll give you some recommendations! There is a park by Cape Canaveral (can't think of the name), but I have friends that go there and really enjoy it. KOA on Lake Whippoorwill in Southeast Orlando is small but nice. This time of year is hard to get reservations - so good luck! Please let me know if I can help you in any way!

Not to be contrary, but I have worked at Red Coconut and here is my assessment:

The owners are combative, obnoxious and have definite superiority complexes. The only spots worth staying in are the few beachfront spaces. All of the spaces are only wide enough to barely walk thru, as the next rig is literally several feet from you. The back spots have very little Gulf view and aside from being packed in like sardines, the sand from the beach is everywhere, especially in your trailer.

And to top off all of this……..the owners INSIST on parking your rig. That's right! You CAN NOT pull your own rig in into your space.

Needless to say, I will no longer service this camp ground under any circumstances!

But as always…………..YMMV!

A couple of spots we have stayed at several times each,

Land Yacht Harbor Airstream Pak - Melbourne (Atlantic coast)

Royal Coachman (I think now an Encore Park) at Nokomis (Gulf Coast, near Venice)

LYH is pretty basic but good base for touring and a lot less $$ than Royal Coachman !

Wow! Sorry to hear that. We haven't not been there in years as we sold our motor home and did not camp at all for a while. Just now getting back into it. That's a shame - let me say...years AGO, it was a great campground!!
