Rt 20 & 10 to Yuma
We will be leaving the Eastern Shore of Maryland for Yuma, Ariz the first of Dec. Plan to go thru Atlanta area and then route 20 to rt 10. We tend to go slow and get off to smell the flowers. What can you all tell us about this route? Road conditions, things to see, hazards, you know the stuff.
Thanks for any and all

West Texas - A whole lotta nothin'
If you take I-10 -- San Antonio to El Paso. Around 550 miles of Great American Desert. See the Alamo in San Antonio. Avoid Houston rush hour like the plague. Most times, you are better off staying on I-10 through Houston rather than attempting either of the outer belts. Really helps to have a navigator watching for impending lane changes.
Plan to fuel up in the San Antonio area, and arrive in El Paso with almost empty fuel tanks. Not much competition in between, so plan to take advantage of lower fuel prices by filling up in El Paso.
Junction State Park, west of San Antonio is a pleasant oasis not far from the Interstate.
Davis Mountains, Big Bend, and the Monahans Sand Dunes are interesting side trips.
Try to count how many big wind powered electric generators you encounter.

Considerations
If you're taking I-20 thru the Dallas area..Likewise, be very careful~! I founded going thru during the rush hour there, towing by myself, to be #@@#$%*$...
Later, joining I-10 from I-20 wasn't too bad. On the trip down toward El Paso, besides the points previously mention, you'll see some rather interesting town's names..Watch out for those "flash flood spots" along the way as well..Day or night, plse don't even consider driving thru water crossing the hiways in these areas.
El Paso, has lots to offer for a border town..I'd slow down there and, spend a day or two of sightseeing~
(keep your eye on the rig..tho) You're only 2 to 3 min from Mexcio..KWIM??
ciao~

I had breakfast at a Denny's in Midland, Tx. once on the way back from a guitar show in Dallas, and all the waitresses there combined had less teeth then me. BTW, that's where our president was born and raised.

Well let's see.....
I-10 through El Paso, HaHaHaHa. In the past 8 hrs. they closed the on/off ramps from I-10 to Rt 54 due to a major wipe out with a truck hauling gravel, AT 1:00 PM! Not long after there was a Semi that caught fire westbound on I-10 that bottled things up even worse. That is just a preface to what has happened in the past few months. Welcome to border travel!! Bottom line hit EP at 4-6 AM or 8 PM + for EASY travel. Trust me, I've been here toooo long to know!
