Route 66 Pics

Though a bit late, I thought I share some pics of our last trip in our 2006 28' Safari LS before we traded her in.

She took her last journey well, traveling thru New Mexico and Texas on Route 66 in June to chase Aliens, White Sands, and neon signs.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Kevin

Nice pictorial, looks like you had a fun trip. I have traveled the Western section of ROute 66 through Arizona, and parts of CA. It looks like there's more to see where you were, though.

route 66 williams

We drove a small section of the classic route 66 off the I 10 to Williams then on to a loop road about 2miles long that was part of the old R66 All a little strange for us english .We went to Arizona bought a 1982 Excella? 31ft motorhome then drove it along the I 10 to Galveston in Texas and shipped it back to the U.K. I was was well impressed with sites on the and how easy it is to travel in the U.S.I want to come back and drive another part of your wicked highway

Thanks for posting those pictures Kevin. They brought back lots of great memories of travel in New Mexico and especially the Cloudcroft and Ruidoso areas while in school and working in West Texas. It looks like you had a great trip.

great pics. thanks so much for sharing.

my brother and i traveled all of route 66 from chicago to LA in '98 as part of a 6 week route 66/national park tour. i lost count of how many times we played route 66 by nat king cole and depeche mode while enroute. we tent camped for the whole thing in state parks mostly (except for our national park stays). illinois and missouri are a great part. the skies really opened up going across the pan handle of texas. loved cadillac ranch.

that would be a great rally theme. but you gotta start in chicago.

Rivet Nice Trip!

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the documentary. Great photographs, you have a good eye. You can’t have too much neon. I lived north of Amarillo for many years. I have spun the tires at the Cadillac Ranch,

Really enjoyed the pictorial. Those neon signs are great - it's the one thing I do remember about the trip we did in '57 with my parents was all the incredible lights.

Thanks for sharing and bringing back some wonderful memories.

Just signed up! Loved the pics. The girls are beautiful! We have 3 girls of our own, 3 month old Golden retreiver (Neige, which is French for snow), 10 month old Yellow lab (tripster because he always under your feet, and a 10 year old German shorthair ( babe just because). We just purchased our first airstream, a 30 ft Cutter Bus. We just took our first trip on Rt 66 thru your pics (bus still in repair shop), really looking forward to our second when we get a chance! Your pics made for a great afternoon trip on rt 66! Thanx, the Dawg! my wife is oneus so our new call is dawgoneus ! We will see if we can't send you on a trip to Cabo San Lucas. We just returned and loved it! Maybe we can take rt 66 on the next trip to Cabo!

Dawgoneus (the two of us! Thanx)

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful trip. Your photos are really amazing. I don't know if we will ever get to travel that road but I feel like I have through your travels. The old signs are really cool. I really like how you put them together.

Start right there in Arizona. Some of the most spectacular scenery of the entire trip. Also the longest section of original Highway left in the country!!

Hi Kevin! A truly fantastic set of pictures! My favourite is the last page too! Reminds of the time my kids discovered Graffiti. I took them to the Abbey Road recording studios in London(still a shrine for Beatles fans). The walls at the front are famous for being the one place you can scrawl and draw without risk of arrest! It's regularly white-washed so everyone gets a chance! Lol!

Thumbs up

Awesome photos, Kevin!

You combined two of my favorite things in life: New Mexico (truly the "Land of Enchantment") and Airstreaming. Thanks for the vicarious ride-along!

Oh, and hello, everyone—after (gulp) years of enjoying the Forums, I have just penned (okay, keyboarded) my first post.
