Where did you live in Michigan?

I was born and lived in Detroit until I was 11. Dad, retired from the DSR (Detroit Street Railway) where he repaired trolley tracks for 27 years and we all moved to Boyne City. The parents dream of owning and running a small business didn't pan out so while they still had some money decided to try California in 1952. Mom and dad were almost 52....it was a gutzy move with 2 boys, me 14 and brother 10. We made it and were/am happy in California. I am the only one left.

That had to be an adventure for you and your family. It's hard to believe that in the 50's Detroit city had a population of over 2 million and now it's below 900,000.

Urban Blight...

That's the reason I live in Illinois for the last 33 years after the Army in 1974 I could have returned to Detroit area but with the Gas Shortages and Auto plant layoffs I decided to go "Go West Young Man!" I landed here as my mother had moved here (My dad was born here) while I was in Vietnam. It took and I'm still here today! I am getting the itch to be on the road though. One of these days when the Safari is finished...... Ah I can see it all now! Ed

Hey, I live right on old 66 in Oklahoma. We have more of the original road than any state in the nation. This is the 100th birthday of Oklahoma, and there will be a lot of interesting things going on this summer. Come down and see us.
