You can take the shuttle up to Bear Lake and hike down 4 miles back to the shuttle parking area. It’s a good first hike to get altitude acclimated and usually not crowded.

Sounds like a great first hike’

Here we are camped in a little county park not far from where we live. Our morning walks with the grandkids were beautiful. Enjoy and travel safe.

Gorgeous pic David...hope we can photograph our rig in a similar setting!

Thanks!
We had troubles with our furnace in higher elevations and discussed it here on Airforum. Turns out it was a bent sail switch installed that way from the factory. Replaced it and it works fine now.

Cannot wait until we arrive in the Rocky Mts. as our journey west we have had increasingly hot, humid weather. Now in Iowa with 96° and same tomorrow. The mountains are calling... we’re on our way!

Safe travels. We are experiencing a "heat wave" this week. I was in Granby today which is south of the RMNP. Temps were a warm 75 degrees. Here at home at 8300 feet temp now is 68, also on the warm side. A lot of Colorado is under a fire warning, so don't be thinking campfires.

There are still plenty of snow capped mountains to look at. It is quite cool at 12,000 feet.

Make sure you drive all the way through the park. The little town of Grand Lake (and the lake itself) is not to be missed, given how long you will be in the area. Wonderful Mexican Restaurant - Pancho & Lefty's. The moose are much more prevalent on the west side of the summit.
In Estes Park, Penelope's is a great lunch spot, if you are so inclined. Poppy's is another favorite.
