Reflecting on my first year of full-timing.

I moved into my 30' Classic just about this time last year and spent 2016 driving over 26,000 miles around North America.

I took a few minutes to write down the things I've learned personally this year.

Would love to learn what others have learned this year too!

Nice story & surprised your walkabout wasn't only professional. I'm a tech guy and knew of you prior to your Airstream journey. As for us, we learned a bunch too: including taking a gap year and how to not be afraid of healthcare (we're mid-55), how to hitch and un-hitch that damn pro-pride hitch!, lifestyle design split between the Airstream, our cabin in Breck & our primary home in Austin, that it was easy to get a new job at Magic Leap after 19 interviews, that it wasn't a fit so left after a few days , took another job and better fit, somehow had gout in a toe and put a damper on spring skiing, played a ton of tennis, putting the Airstream in the TX hill country for several weeks ... yes there is a wine country in TX, our son and his girlfriend moved close by, got 2 new kittens, got a new dog, continue to grow with my wife of 33 years!... all in all an outstanding year. Drop us a note when you come to Austin!

Thoughtful and insightful write-up, and thanks for sharing.

I especially appreciate your comments about initial concerns for your safety, as you began to travel full time....dissipating as you learned that people across the country are mostly good, and just want to help.

There are a lot of folks new to travel who have what seems to be an irrational fear of anyone outside their usual comfort zone....fears just not played out by actual events in the real world.

Thank you, especially, for speaking to that.

May 2017 bring you many safe and happy miles.
