Great Pics! Thanks We are about to start looking for a place for an early arrival. I was thinking Henderson so we could spend some time with Laura's dad who live in Destin. Sounds like that may be a challenge based on Bob's (LI Pets) posts. How did Graton Beach look for a camp ground?
Phil...we missed Grayton Beach.
I have never been there either.
Maybe someone can add some photos of it.
Back to Navarre...
The State Park is still there only closed indefinitely.
For sale too! Centruy 21 has a large sign up.
All the buildings are still there, just under a foot of sand.
So we went to a private spot at base of bridge. (bridge is no longer toll)
You cannot drive from Navarre Beach to Pensacola Beach for a while.
They are still working on it.
About 3 miles down from each end the road closes.
Covered Pool House

Pensacola is still working on its recovery too.
Ft Pickens is closed at the first gate.
And the road back to Navarre is closed 4 miles east of bridge.
Oh...Pensacola Beach Bridge is $1 a car toll.
Sure have lots of memories of this sign
Crossing over to the beach
This is turn around at entrance to Ft Pickens.
Not sure how long before re-openning.

What a name...GSP
This was the largest campground I have ever seen...498 campsies!
Must be great fishing here.
Water was very dark.
Is just outside of Gulf Shores, Alabama
(Not much imagination used naming this area)
Full hook ups, no shade, large boat launch area, no jet skis allowed, biggest, cleanest bathrooms ever!
Nice TV...wonder if its a 3/4 ton?

you have the best trip reviews... alittle commentary and pictures to tell the rest. I love the way you do that. I notices a lot of Airstream photos, well, I could not help and notice that none had WBCCI numbers on them. Was there a rally somewhere else in the country or are there a great number of non-WBCCI owners out there.
Great Thread!
Love the photos. They really show what to expect when headed to a park several states away.
How about posting them in the Campground Review section? It will make them easier to find a year from now.

Klattu - thanks for the great pics. I live in Panama City and second your opinion about St Andrews State Park. I've been to a couple of the places you visited and plan on going to many of the other places and now I can visualize where I'm going.
Phil - my wife and I drove through Grayton Beach about a week and a half ago after taking a peek at Topsail. The campground at Grayton Beach is small, about 30 sites. Some of the sites are on a dune lake (freshwater) and are very nice. The campground is heavily shrubbed, in a natural way, with dirt site pads. Might be tight for long trailers or MHs. The big draw, of course, is the beautiful beach which is a bike ride or long walk away.
See you at the Can Opener Rally in January!

Great Post. I understand the Navarre - Pensacola Rd is on schedule to be rebuilt soon, I think I saw some documentaion were the contract had been let with a 120 day window. Ft. Pickens Rd is scheduled to be started in the spring of '08, pending the unforseen.
Your title threw me, we always called Gulf Shores Al. the Red Neck Riviera. For Florida we would brag "I'm going to Florida"!

WOW! these places look great! I assume you can forget getting into any of them the week between Christmas and new years. Am I correct in this assumption?
