The odometer surpassed 8200 miles since we left Mount Olive on May 15. We arrived in Atlanta South RV Park yesterday afternoon about 2:30 and the traffic I-75 was bumper to bumper. I am glad we got in when we did.
Leader LArry had to stop and get a tire changed on his Bambi (two holes and signs of belt separation) after an hour in Leeds, AL we were on our way.
We will head down to Perry and stay at Fair Harbor RV Park for the next two nights and then check in to WBCCI first thing on Monday.
This is going to be fun! Wish you all were here.

We traveled the last 80 miles from Atlanta to Perry and got into Fair HArbor RV Park at around 1:00 pm.
We took a ride over to the fair grounds just to check out the grounds. There are quite a few trailers and MH's already there. There are three trees and all had Airstreams underneath them. The weatherman is calling for 90+ temperatures for the next ten days. It is supposed to be 100 today. We have the AC cranked up and had it on all last night.
Our caravan is scheduled to enter the WBCCI tomorrow at 9:00 am. We have our final banquet tonight. (Hard to believe its been almost two weeks since we left Bakersfield.
This is where the vintage folks are gathering before entering in a parade on Wednesday. One more year and we will join them.
Here are a couple of pictures of Atlanta South RV Park and Fair Haven RV Park. The first three are in Atlanta South and the last is our caravan leader Larry before he left for the President's Banquet at WBCCI last evening.

We entered the WBCCI with our caravan of three (Belize Dave is coming in with the Vintage parade on Wednesday). We were the first caravan in at 9:00 am. We were escorted to Red 2, row 7 right near a tree. The caravan from Maryland followed us in and are parked all around us. George and Katie (late 80's)-of our caravan from southern California parked in the handicapped area. They are truley an inspiration.
We had our caravan's farewell banquet Sunday evening at Red Lobster, the food was good and the fellowship was excellent.
We went to register and after a little hassel because we did not know our parking site (not marked) we figured out where we were and proceeded thrugh the line (first timers have the bell rung for them and everyone applauds). All of the activity sign up tables were open and the vendors were open for business. (Made an appointment with Fantastic Fan to fix one of my fans.)
Had our first happy hour with out ENCU group which was shortened by a false alarm regarding a pop up thunder storm that never materialized.
Pictures:
1. setting up at site - powering up and daisy chaining the water. (black water will be pumped every fouth day)
2. Clock tower at fairgrounds
3. folowing the gondola back to our site.
4. sattelite dish is up and functioning, Maryland group is parked
5. view down the line of hook ups
I am going up to the Airstream Store today and also see if any forums members have posted info for happy hours.

Today we watched AS after AS enter the fairgrounds, what a sight, awesome!
I took a few pictures of the registration area, Unit bulletin board area and the vendor area behind the activity sign up tables. Linda volunteered to man a table
The last picture is of our Caravan Leader Larry Larsen receiving his pacque for serving as a Caravan Leader. The Caravan Awards Banquet had about a hundred attending, Three of us were a little underdressed in shorts but were made welcome by almost everyne there. The caravan offerings are impressive and Bob Bennett and his committee are working hard on offering more and better caravans in the next few years.
We are thinking of learning more about leading a caravan and will probably attend the training sessions here at the Rally.
Vintage parade today at 10:00 am, can't wait.
More later.......

You need to plan another trip. You missed some states...
We'll be there on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe w'll see you at the caravan class on Saturday. We're thinking about signing up for the Viking Trail caravan.

The best part of any trip is when you pull away from home.
The Vintage Parade lived up to its advanced billing. Thirty seven units were pre-registered. (see pictures)
The opening ceremonies were impressive as the officers were introduced and then all the flags were placed in the flag holders from each unit present from all 12 regions. Local dignitaries were introduced and welcomed everyone to Perry. (Last count I heard on totals was 900+ units.
It was suprising that the vast majority of people I saw yesterday and at the ceremony were not wearing Blue Berets.
We cooked up some hambergers for dinner and went to the ceremony.
It is warm- mid 90s and humid. The gnats are persistent and now I understand the "Georgia Wave", and am getting pretty good at it.
Today is the First Timer's seminar.......
rgodfrey - you are right we need to go back west again maybe next year on the way to/from Bozeman, MT

We attended the first timers seminar and found it very informative. There were a room full of First Timers and they asked good questions. The information I heard I had also seen first here on the forums. Thank you forum members.
It was warm, again in the mid 90's. Yesterday was our day to have our blackwater tank pumped, but I don't think they got it all as the guage registered 1/4 when they were done. They empty every four days. Grey water goes right on the ground at night.
Today's schedule includes a Caravan Session I.
More later.......
Pictures are of a few vintage trailers parked in the vintage area and the First Timers Seminar

Yesterday the first session for caravanning was held. It is targeted for those interested in participating as well as those who may want to lead caravans in the future. There are three 3 hour sessions for which you get a lot of information and a certificate upon completion.
Session one was Caravanning Basics, an overview of the history and current status of WBCCI Caravans. Pres Don Shafer welcomed the group. Bob Bennett introduced the speakers. (Gary Fithian, Chuck Kiple, David Levinson and Howard Lefkowitz) It also included information on communication including the importance of CB radios.
The last speaker covered maintenance of your tow vehicle and especially your rig. Howard Lefkowitz also did our unit maintenance rally in April. He found a gas leak on Carmen O (Furnace).
Today's session will cover setting up a caravan; scouting, leading, setting up a kitty, staying healthy and using a GPS.
Sorry, no pictures I forgot my camera. I will take it to todays session.
Big meeting this morning IBT hears the members.
More later.........

Linda and I sat in for some of the discussion yesterday morning and you could tell that there was a very good chance that the motion to allow other brand motorhomes would be defeated.....and it was. Lets move on.
I then took a walk past presidents row and took the following pictures of the Region President's Rigs, interesting. See for yourself.......

These two were going on at the same time, tough choice. (Pet Show and WBCCI IBT Open Meeting - am)

I went to the second session of the Caravan workshop and several key areas were covered, How to Plan a Caravan, How to lead a unit caravan, how to create and use a kitty fee, how to stay healthy on a caravan, and a session on GPS usage.
The presenters were excellent and all experienced in what they were presenting. One more to go on Monday.
I missed the Vintage Open House which I understand was exceptional, next year we plan on being part of that experience. Check the kids out in the Vintage section having a blast.
We are off to Warm Springs to visit FDR's Little White House today.....

we went over to FDR's Little White House in Warm Springs, GA. The house was so FDR, very simple and impressive that FDR had the foresight to leave it to the Foundation he established there for helping others needing therapy. It has to be one of a few Presidential residnces that are not National Parks. It is a State Park. Having grown up in Hyde Park, NY and visiting his home and library numerous times and having heard Elenor address an assembly in junior high Linda and I found it very interesting.
Here are some pictures of our trip and Warm Springs sights.
Pictures are:
1. Back veranda of Little White House
2. Marine Guard House
3. Unfinished portrait FDR was sitting for at his time of collapse of a massive cerebral hemmorage
4. picture of museum at The Little White House
5. Testing the temperature of the spring water in the pool that FDR frolicked with the kids there for treatment
6. down town Warm Springs
7. downtown

I will attend the last workshop on Caravanning today, things are winding down, trailers are leaving......
We had thunder storms most of last night, no damage according to Wally Byam Control.
Later.......
