If by your block you mean the area under your username to the left of your posts (where there's a picture of a dog in mine) that's your avatar.

Click on "User CP" in the blue menu bar with white words, then select "Edit Avatar" under the "Settings and Options" on the left. You'll need a small version of a picture to work right for your avatar, about 120x120 pixels.
