Quartzite 2014

Anyone planning on boondocking at Quartzite in January 2014? We will be in the area and would like to see how it is done!

Hy,guys, still living the dream it seems. Guess you are not looking forward to another winter over at the Canyon. Quartzite is on my bucket list along with Burning Man and the ballon festival.

Just wanted to bump this to see if there are any Airstreamers going to Quartzite this winter. We are thinking February for a week or two.

Hi, I'm. Mheading over to Quartzite for a few days starting sat. And would like to connect with other folks who are cruising in silver tubes and having fun.
This will be my first time there and I am new to the whole RV thing so enjoy hanging with more experienced campers.
The thought of camping unplugged is a little daunting as my rig is used to being plugged in and the house batts are needing to be replaced, today's project.

Poppy, if you are in the area, let me know how to hook up. Would like to share a beer and talk Porsche with you, loved your restoration projects!

I'm thinking of staying in a RV park the first night to get topped off, charged up, and dumped out, and tanks filled for a little boondocking.

So if you are there and can share some local knowledge , I'm all ears.

Cheers Richard

I'm in Hope Az. 30 miles east of "Q", one other AS here.
I went into "Q" on Wed, no traffic, no lines, very empty, vendors still setting up, the tent opens this Sat.
And with that the traveling horde will show, plenty of desert to park in.

Hi Richard...

I would love to swap Porsche stories but I'm still stuck in Oregon. Leaving next Friday for the Southwest. PM me and let me know if you're going to be around the next few months.

Gotta do that Quartzsite thing at least once! Next year hopefully.

Poppy

Comparing Quartzsite to Burning Man: I've done both. The biggest difference is the demographic. The average Quartzsite visitor is at least 30 years older than Burning Man attendees.

In planning for this trip to Quartzite, I've been reading that all sorts of RV dealers and services are there. So my question is should I wait to replace my house Batts. And power converter while there, or should I buy them here in Pheonix? If getting them here is the best choice. Where should I look for them here?

What goes on at Quartzite? Is there a section where only AS will be? Any rallys, formal or informal? What does one do while there in the middle of the desert?

I could probably be talked into showing up if someone has a good enough reason... I have Monday off after all...

Once you're there park the trailer and travel around in tv, dirt bike, or atv. Last year I brought my atv and had a blast driving around the hills. You can even drive them on the streets in town in spite of being an off road vehicles. They are pretty laid back in Q.
