Planning to stay in or near Prescott, AZ for July and August. Looking for advice on a decent, reasonably priced park. Any reccomondations?

We like Point of Rocks RV Park on the north side of town. It borders the State Park overlookng the valley. We checked out the others and this is our choice. There's plenty of hiking and great bicycle paths from the RV park.

I'll second Point of Rocks. We have stayed there several times.

Thanks, but we called Point of Rocks and all of their long term sites are taken. Some weekly available but a little out of our budget at the weekly rates. We're checking around the area and also in Williams now. A bit late in the season trying to find spots in some of the parks. We planned to work camp in MI this summer. Once we arrived at the park though, management completely changed our agreement to one we refused to accept. Such is life.

I should've mentioned that we are currently in MI until July, so any first hand suggestions on parks in AZ high country is very helpful.

We stopped a few nights at Point of Rocks a couple of years ago - very nice spot. Our ply problem was that we got snowed in and the roads were closed for one or two days! I suppose that won't happen in July though! We were there in March

I would also recommend this RV park.

Brian.

Try the Canyon Motel and RV Park. We've stayed there twice and have reservations on Sept. Kevin and Shirley are the owners and they are very accommodating. They have laundry facilities, full hook ups and plenty of space between sites. It's not too far from the train station that will take you up to the Grand Canyon, which is a great day excursion.

Have stayed at Willow Lake RV park while having work done on the trailer at Afinity RV down the street. It's nothing fancy, but has some trees and is a couple of blocks from the lake with walking and bike trails. The RV park serves short term and long term guests so they may have room for you. Owners were nice and accomodating.

I am staying now at double G RV park in Chino valley about 20 min. North of prescott. Nice little park, mostly long stay trailers here. Big sites, full hook ups, lots of trees. Located just off the main road in the small town of chino valley.

I've been doing lots of biking in the area, Great quiet roads to cruise around on, once off the main hi way. This is a good way for me to get to know the area as I'm looking to get a place here as a base camp from which to explore the southwest.
The rates here range from $300. To $400. Per month.

Prescott area seems a good choice to avoid the high temps of the summer in the low lands of southern Az, and the hard winter weather of the higher elevations near Flagstaff. Plus it's a pretty area , in a high desert sort of way.

Cheers Richard

Gunsite Academy in Paulden, AZ, has a campground with full hookups for persons attending their classes.

It is strictly functional, no frills, and I don't know if they would rent a site as an exception, if the campground is not full.

I don't know what classes they run in the summer either, which would affect vacancies.

You could always call and ask. (928) 636-4565

Thanks for the info on the Double G, found no reviews online about it. Will call them later today for details.

We always stay at Railside RV in Williams, Great folks run it, walking to Williams, watch the train leave and return each day.
