Post Porky & Petunia's Website is up and running ...

Just thought you would like to know that we now have a new website … www.trailergypsies.com … documenting our travels and observations. The link has been in my signature for about a week ... so I guess it is time to make the announcement.

We’re trying to play catch-up and write about all that we have done since last May ... so it has been very time consuming. Petunia has done most of the writing … I do most of the editing and add my thoughts at that time. I’m also in charge of photos and the layout. It has been a creative struggle at times … but a lot of fun for us … and has helped us relive this past year.

The site is not complete … it is a work in progress and will need some fine tuning … but it’s far enough along that we feel it is time to share it with the rest of the world … or at least the few people we know. We have just added a “What’s New” page … so frequent visitors can head directly to the new stuff.

Some sections consist of multiple pages pertaining to the same subject (Miami, AZ for example) ... so be sure to click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the page ... if there is one.

Porky,

Nice job! You're making my cabin fever worse, however.

Very tasteful and clean design, Porky. We're still buried in snow here, so viewing your website is a welcome respite!

That is a Wonderful Web Site, Porky.. I need to figure out how to do that, so I can do one for us, as we work across the country.

Maybe there should be a large group of fulltiming websites, as a window for those who are still stuck at home.

You have terrific photos, and we especially like the clickon-closeup detail feature. Like F-C above, we wonder what camera and techniques you are using. My digital pictures, even with a good camera, aren't looking like these.

Frozen Chosen and MaxandGeorgia ...

Would you believe a Polaroid?

A Brownie Starmite?

How about a Yashica twin lens reflex?

OK ... I'm using a Nikon Coolpix 880 ... it's a 3.2 megapix camera. I think it is about 3 or 4 years old ... Nikon discontinued this model about 6 months after it was released.

I bought it because several reviews considered it to be as good or better than the 990 ... which was the really hot camera at that time.

Just picked up the wide angle lens for it a couple of weeks ago ... makes a huge difference on the indoor and close up shots. Check out the Buckhorn Mineral Springs photos (Mesa, AZ) ... that was my first outing with this lens.

Although I am lusting after a Nikon D70 ... and getting really excited about the new Canon EOS 20D ... I'm not sure that a new camera will give me any better results when considering the mega dollars needed to make the purchase.

Also, I purchased my very first tripod ... a Bogen/Manfretto 3021BPRO. My little camera looks silly and out of place perched upon this fine piece of Italian hardware. I'm using the tripod to improve my panoramas and night photos.

When I get the Panoramas page up and running ... you will see some really nice shots ... most have been hand held.

We have been reluctant to add too many photos ... as we would like the pages to load as fast as possible. This is why we have multiple pages for some of the locations. Be sure to click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the page when you see one.

Many thanks to all of you for the kind words. Your encouragement has given us the energy and confidence to keep going.
