My wife and I really, really enjoyed your site. We share your interests in architecture, dining, scenery and meeting the people as we travel. You appear to be such a great couple. Thank you so much for sharing. If you are ever down in the texas hill country, stop by for a long visit. We'll treat you so many different ways that you are bound to like one of them.

I'm impressed at the photographic talent displayed by forum members. I am always in a learning mode and am interested in how some of you have acquired your skills. Porky, your sunset pictures move me....

Just thought I would update this thread and mention that Petunia and I have been busy updating our website. Most notably ... the Panorama Gallery is now up and running.

If you haven't been to our site recently ... the What's New page is a great place to start ... all updates are dated on that page.

Thanks for looking!

Porky says on his web site:

"Today, through the miracle of digital photography and "stitching" software, any semi-skilled moron like me can produce a decent looking panorama. You can see some of my results in the Panorama Gallery."

That's complete humilty BS Porky. It takes extraordinary skill to produce what you put together.

I've been living overseas for so long that I sometimes forget how beautiful America really is! Those panorama photos are amazing.

Porky, I finally had time this morning to browse your web site-marvelous! Can you tell us more about your panorama techniques? Do you take consecutive photos and "stitch"? What is stitching software? I had the roots of this idea last summer in Glacier, but haven't known what to do with my shots to put them together--or is there some other system you are using? Beautiful photography! Yes ... I take consecutive photos ... overlapping about 20% or so. Most of the time the camera is hand held ... so I have to be very careful to keep the camera on the same horizontal plane with each shot. I purchased a tripod to take of that ... and it really helps with the quality.

There are quite a few "stitching" programs out there ... I have tested quite a few ... and found that Panorama Factory works best for me.

You can download a 30 day evaluation copy at Panorama Factory.

Thanks, we have a tripod, but have never used it. Sounds like a new hobby for summer travels--thanks again!
