Poor cable signal to my TV
I am getting really bad cable connection to my TV. I had the camp host check out the signal at my site and it was great. He actually brought a mini TV with him, connected the cable to it and picture was perfect. However, when I connect the cable to my 2011 FC, my picture is snowy at best. I bought my AS used but the dealer told me everything works fine. I didn't check cable during the walk through though.
Is there a setting inside the AS I'm supposed to use? When I set my Samsung TV to receive signal through the rooftop antenna, the picture is crisp and clear. When I set my TV to receive reception via cable, it stinks.
What am I doing wrong?

Look near the 12 volt outlet and cable connection inside the RV. Small black button, in for onboard antenna, out for cable.

Mine has a green light and button is out. Still crappy signal. Is there a way to check connection with a multimeter?

Regardless of button position, if the green light is on, your antenna power amplifier is on and that will mess up your signal. If the green light is off you should be good to scan for channels there and get good signal.

Ok thanks. The green light is always on regardless of button position. Sounds like I've got some wiring issues or defective signal selector.

Keep in mind that the tv set can select between STD standard cable channels, HRC harmonic related channels and IRC incremental related channels.
When you swap tween cable and off air, rescan the channel lineup and that may clear up the problem.
Your set will also allow you to pick STD, HRC or IRC configuration. If you happen to be on the wrong format you have very weak signal or nothing at all.
Marketing consideration.

I don't think there is any wiring issue that will keep the LED on regardless of button position. When the LED is on, the antenna is selected, thus poor cable signals.
IMO you need a new selector.

True not a wiring problem. Could be a bad switch on the selector.
Can be tested, just remove the screws pull the plate out and disconnect the power wire and see if it works.

Hmmm. We have a 2011 FC. As I recall there is a coax jumper that needs to be installed to be able to watch cable on your TV. This jumper is about 7" long pre bent in a u shape. There are 2 female coax outlets right below the antenna booster that everyone is referring to. After the jumper is installed then re-scan channels in the cable mode. Not able to access the AS until Saturday but can take a picture if you need.

Hi Jerry, I have that cable connected in a U shape. Going camping again next month so will try all the suggestions then.
Thanks all.

In my manual, that jumper cable is required to use cable and is disconnected when plugging in a satellite receiver in that spot. If you have that jumper plugged in, you should be fine for cable.
I think you said no matter what you do with the button the green light is always on for your antenna boost. I believe that is your problem. That switch needs to be replaced so the green light goes off and your cable signal will be clear.

Thank you all...
This has been our TV also for the last week. I just thought it was the park/post and was going to check with the park people this week.
I turned off the green light and now have crystal clear cable channels.

I'm having the same problems as the original poster - a snowy picture on ALL cable channels. Here's what I've done:
Had the park operator check signal strength - all good. (yes, at more than one campground, too)
Switch in off position.
Disconnected and re-connected the jumper cable under the switch box. Also took out the switch box, cleaned and reconnected the cable in the back.
Nothing helped - the green light on position produces perfectly clear broadcast signal from the antenna, so I know the TV to wall wire is okay. And yes, I re-scanned in cable mode before getting the weak signal on cable.
I'm guessing I either have a bad antenna amplifier switch box, or the cable going from the plug-in on the outside of the camper to the antenna amplifier switch box is bad.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Glenn

I had the same problem this weekend, and figured it was the cable box or connection between it and the AS. It turned out to be the connection between the cable jack and the TV.

Try disconnecting the jumper cable and connecting the TV to where the jumper goes.

Great idea! That would tell me whether the problem lies in the booster or in the cable that runs outside.
