Pohick Bay campground DC

Has anyone stayed here recently? Will want a base camp for DC and Annapolis. I checked out Cherry Hill campground on rvparkreviews and there were enough divided reviews to give caution. Pohick seems to have larger lots w/o the constant drown of traffic noise.

Pohick is a looong way from Annapolis. I've heard Capital KOA is good but I haven't been there myself. That campground would put you relatively close to DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis.

Ramblin' Pines is another option, but it's a good ways north of DC and again a long way from Annapolis.

I'm not familiar with Pohick Bay, but I stayed at Cherry Hill Park for two weeks one time while moving and it was fine. There is some traffic noise from I-95 if you're near that, but I couldn't hear it inside the camper.

We have stayed at the Capital Koa a number of times and were very happy with it . It is very centrally located for going to Baltimore ,DC , or Annapolis. Lots of traffic every where out there.

Cherry Hill is you best bet. Bring ear plugs to sleep and you will be fine.

Duncan's Family Campground

How about this place? Is it too far to DC? Is it quieter than Cherry? Pohick was filled up.

Duncans will be quieter than Cherry, and it's not that far from DC - I know many people that live in Upper Marlboro and drive in to DC daily. Not too far from Annapolis either. I don't know about the quality of the campground - I drove through a couple years back to see it, and it seemed okay, but I've never stayed there.

FWIW:
You might want to look at:

Lake Fairfax Park, Fairfax County Park Authority

We spent a week at LFP and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Granted it's on the opposite side of DC from Annapolis but even with it being in the midst of Fairfax county, you'd think you were out in the countryside.
Don't know when you're trip is planned but they have a waterpark, lake with paddle boats, fishing, hiking etc.
The camp store leave something to be desired but there is grocery shopping within 10 minutes of the park.

Called Back

My mistake was reading all the posts at rvparkreview where there are some incredible stories. One can assume that a good portion blog when something went wrong but the gist was apparent and I did not want to pull the trigger on the commitment. So as today was my lucky day I called back to Pohick Bay just to see if maybe someone else would answer the phone or there would be a cancellation and sure enough there was one with the date moved out 2 days but still with a week. Someone is looking out for me as the haul up there was probably too much in the time period I had allowed. I got one of the few full hook ups and (please don't get upset you dog lovers) the area where we are at is "No Pets Allowed". That means no yapping toy dogs with discourteous owners in tow! We will continue on from there to Jersey Shores AS Park.
