It is hail season, we have floods and its even snowing in mid May.
Here is a great tool for your morning check of the weather before you hit the road. Really aimed at Pilots...but, its great for all weather checkers. Put the cursor on your point of interest.

We have been 'biting our nails' watching hail storms prance around us drifting north. Nothing has hit yet save for about a minute of pea sized hail two days ago. Be glad when this month is over. You know I have heard from missionaries that as time goes by that weather would become more extreme in all catigories. They mentioned hail stones the size of footballs and pumpkins. We are in the southwest corner of Oklahoma...Melody you are closer to Tulsa and sure hope you got all your babies covered and protected while we go through this...thanks for the chart...

Redhawker....I thought you were up by Enid. However, SW Oklahoma is no picnic this week either. Hail shown on the news last night from OKC was really about 4 inches in diameter. It left craters in the ground when it hit. Imagine an Airstream. I hope everyone is OK. I have seen hail in Lubbock, Texas , irregularly shaped and ragged, about like dinner plates. I am south of Ardmore, OK (20 miles south of the Red River in Texas) watching the hail storms along the river this morning.

I'm ignorant here,,, In Re: Fotochop's, "dew points rule my emotional life", can someone enlighten me as to the function of "dew point" I've got temperature and wind speed/direction down but don't understand either the dew point or the barometer.

Two things I look at...
a high dew point means humidity. For many folks not used to that...it is miserable....plan for AC. After many years of living in Louisiana and Texas I can tolerate it better than you lucky guys in Colorado and Texas. High heat with low humidity...not so bad. High heat with high humidity....your probably in Louisiana.

If the temp and dew point are within 3 degrees of each other...you will probably have fog...especially if the wind is lightly blowing.

This weather is really strange this year. Several days ago we left Independance, CA traveling norht on highway 395 and got a far as Bishop, CA. All the passes required "snow chains'. Had to turn around and retrace our route and come up through Bakersfield. Before departing Independance we had blowing snow each evening.

It is also useful to remember that hurricane season starts in about a week. Those of us in coastal environments spend half the year wondering "will this be the year we get hammered with a hurricane?" Let's all hope for another peaceful year but be prepared otherwise just in case our number is up.

We made it to Bishop at about 1:00 PM Sunday the 9th then headed west up to our campground "four jeffery" and were greeted with a 50 MPH headwind with snow ! This was only our 3rd trip out with our 23' Safari and I was a little nervous but the abient temp wasn't cold enough at 1:00 PM to make the road slipperey so we made it the 10 miles to our camp.

Sunday and Monday night it snowed, temps down to 25 degrees but I did my homework and had empty black and gray tanks and drained the fresh water as well as pumping all the water out of the plumbing. Tuesday night it cleared up and the rest of the week was perfect, great fishing, Chris and I both catching an Alpers lunker trout !

We had planned to head up to June lake on Sunday the 16th but were turned around just like you were, a severe weather alert, so we came home early and drove out to Vegas for e few days to get some sunny weather !
