Pics from our camping trip

We just got back from our retirement property. I finished the trailer the day before we left. I still have some little things to do but regardless it was ready to go and so were we. We pulled it 950 miles with no problems and brought the dogs. We used a generator for electricity and found water to fill our fresh water tank with. We camped for seven days and the only problem we ran into was we had to come back home.

I learned much on this trip. I learned the shades my wife bought and the draperies she made were very important for keeping the inside cool when running the air conditioner. I learned that water does not last long. I learned it gets dirty quick with two dogs next to a pond. I learned the fantastic fan is fantastic.

All the appliances worked except for the converter. I used a battery charger to charge the battery.

I put in pics of the interior because I wanted you to see the floor, bathroom and the interior decorating my wife did. My wife is responsible for the colors, sewing, painting and picking out the floor. She helped me with the labor also. She put as much into this trailer as I did. She handled the tape measurer and made sure everything was perfect.

What a beautiful spot! Two lucky people with two lucky dogs. And your AS looks so at home by the lake. Very, very nice!

Years ago, we used to have a houseboat tied on an anchor in a private cove. We lived on it when at the lake. Your post brings back memories of a quiet, relaxing time.

Both the Airstream and the setting look great. Nice job on the interior. Where is your retirement land located?

Our retirement property is in Southern Illinois south of SIU.

We had some friends visit and we went for a ride on the road I live and about 3 miles down this road in the middle of no where is an Airstream like mine sitting in these peoples yard. I am going to have to see if they are on this forum because this trailer was very clean and shiney.

Thanks for all the compliments. We have worked hard. I am a teacher and I have started back to school. I was explaining to my wife that it feels like I was not off to long this summer. From the day we got out of school until we left I spent all day and the evenings getting this trailer road ready. The last week I was scrambling trying to meet the deadline date. I worked until we left and when we got there I had to learn all the camping and techniques of camping. When we got home and I parked it I think I slept for a week, and then I was back in school because I am teaching at a new school, new grade level, new subject.

We are looking at pulling it to parks close to home for some weekend camping with the dogs. This Airstream will be our second home for our retirement property until we build a house. My wife says we will get our money back and make money when we sell the airstream. I said I am not selling the airstream after we build a house. She agreed but restated saying only if we needed the money. She loves the airstream as much as I do.

The interior looks great. Good work including the tape measure holding.

What a beautiful spot! Those are two lucky pups!
Can you tell me what kind of toilet that is that you replaced the original with? Is it a Sealand? Was it easy to install?

Nice pics! That's one part of Illinois that has some geographical diversity. Are you near the wineries?
