Oh c'mon, guys! The journey is
MORE than half the fun!
We've owned 2 trailers:
The first we drove from Chicago to Tacoma, WA and back. In December through the mountains no less. And first time towing
anything. It was scary, uncharted, beautiful, wild, and so memorable.
We never even got around to restoring the damn trailer and we're
still glad we made the trip - how's that for a ringing endorsement of a good road trip?
This second time around, I flew from Chicago to Dallas. Jumped a Greyhound to Texarkana, bought the tow vehicle, drove to South Carolina where the trailer sat, and drove the whole thing back to Chicago. WELL worth the adventure and experience.
The drudgery, expense and effort you put into the trip disappears the minute you're home. All that remains is the fun memories and beautiful sights you saw along the way.
Oh, and my vote is
I-90. If you can, slow down and see Mt. Rushmore, and absolutely take the
240 Badlands Loop when you reach Wall, S.D.
Incredible.
Good luck!
