Penticton, British Columbia

I will be traveling to Penticton British Columbia in September for a family wedding.
Has anyone stayed in the area? where did you stay, and did you like it? Any not to miss attractions in the area? Any issues getting into Canada that we should know about in advance.
Thanks

We stayed at Todd's in Peachland and loved it. A bit north of Penticton. Great wineries and food!

We travelled through Penticton a few weeks ago to have the Airstream dealer do some work but we stayed further north in West Kelowna. Canada Border Security Agency guards were more concerned with fruit like apples/peaches, etc. than vegetables like lettuce. It didn't seem to matter that there were at least 50 miles of apple orchards immediately to the south in Washington. The Okanagan is a lovely area.

Both Canadian and US authorites confiscate eggs. What route are considering?

I often wonder if they just take what they need for lunch that day?

Depending on whether or not you need hookups, there is a Provincial Park, south in Okanagan Falls, or North Okanagan (2 campsites).
Hookups, Todd's as was already recommended.
You could always email the Aurstream dealer in Penticton ( Midtown RV)for recommendations and there are a couple of campsites on Skaha Lake at Pentictons south end.
Google campsites in Penticton BC.

The area is known for its wineries, mountains, and lakes.

I would check Canadian customs on current food restrictions. Normally they could care less, but periodically there is some sort of agricultural problem and then they can either confiscate foods or make you deposit them in the US.

Recent restrictions are on eggs and poultry, due to the bird flu problem. The last time we went through returning home, they also restricted California strawberries.

If this seems like a big hassle, just don't take fresh food through, although it is normally cheaper in the US. As is gas! Gas up before you reach the border.

They seldom inquire, but if you have a dog, they can ask for its rabies certificate. 2 bottles of wine, a six-pack, or one bottle of liquor per person.

Then the US customs on your return has its own requirements-- like no citrus fruit, ever. Alcohol is the same, in case you pick up some Okanagon wine.
