What a delightful park, right in downtown Austin. Google it to research it, then put it on your bucket list. We arrived late Sunday afternoon, without a reservation. They managed to get us into an overflow site. and we'll move to a reg site tomorrow for a few days. Upon our arrival, a pot luck was just starting, and we were invited in for a fabulous supper. The place is awash with Airstreams. The oldest one we saw so far is a 59 that is still being used as a traveler, with the current owners just staying in Austin for a few days. There are also a couple of Silver Streaks, an Avion and lots of odd stuff.

We were just there last week. It's one of our favorite places. If you have a dog, walk to the leash free area along the river ( on this side of Lake Austin toward the right) . Our girls had a blast! Also, turn right out of the park and go to Shady Grove for dinner. The French fries with green chili sauce are fabulous. Envious - would like to be back there right now.

We went there for supper. Tnx for the tip. BTW, did you know that behind the restaurant is an old Airstream that is being used as a storage room. It is a 2 axel, door in door, with a nameplate that list serial number 7083. The plate says it was built on Firestone Blvd in Norwalk, CA. Can anyone supply a year and model name? There is also a large (maybe 40 feet) Spartan back there that is being used as part of the restaurant. This whole downtown area is a Mecca for old Airstreams. They are everywhere, a lot are being used as food vendors as well as other shops. This is town definitely a must see for Airstream aficionados.

Welcome to my beautiful city! I live just a five minute walk up the hill from Flipnotics (your nearest coffee bar).

Let me know if you need anything while you're in town - recommendations, a cup of sugar, whatever!

TNX for the info,,,It is a great candidate for restoration, I'd love to see it back on the road doing what it was meant to do.
