Never-the-less, I am proposing the following:

24 April - Buckskin/Page
1 May - Muley Overlook/Bluff
8 May - Sinbad I-70/Green River
Let's see an informal show of hands for these dates and locations.
Zep
Zep,
These dates look good to me. I think we would do the Buckskin/Page and part of the Overlook/Bluff and skip the last location.

Sounds like a great trip foregoing campgrounds for really good scenery!
Jerry

Photography rally permits

Hey Zep,
Are the dates firm and how do we go about applying for any necessary permits?

The whole area around White Pocket is incredible. I think a week is way too little time to spend in the area. Our planned boon dock camp is at the top of the map. You can get an Airstream down House Rock Road about half way to Wire Pass, but then you find some a gully that is no problem for a car or truck, but the dip is too short/steep for a mid-wheel trailer. House Rock Road maintenance varies--sometimes smooth, other times rough.

Wire Pass is the entrance for both Buckskin Slot Canyon and North Coyote Buttes, where the Wave is. You can see Buckskin Canyon under the arrow pointing to North Coyote Buttes. Permits for Buckskin and South Coyote are relatively easy to obtain. A permit for the Wave is very difficult, if you don't get one in the first minute [via the web] or so when the window opens for the month.

You can drive to White Pocket from the camp for a day trip, but it would be 2-3 hours in, then the same back out. Probably best to do a one night tent camp there.

Zep

Wondering if that late will be too warm to boondock comfortably?

Here's a graph of high and low temps for each day in May 2009. Looks like perfect weather to me. Can't wait to enjoy the shoots and the good company.

...on May 18th. And, please lay out the schedule for the following days. I'd have to depart for home on May 25th.

I am not clear on the trip itself. The following questions come to mind.
1. How is the road in to where the Airstreams will be parked?
2. Is the immediate area around the Airstreams purdy enough to be a final destination if going further in does not work for me?
2. From there are we hiking, driving in tow vehicles or what?
3. Are we spending an overnight in tents?

I think we are kind of back at square one if Zep is out. Has anyone heard from him regarding his intentions? I'm up for anything between Page and I-70. I really want to boondock if possible.

It has been informative following the posts on this thread. We too are planning a return trip to N. AZ, Utah.. this May. My hope is to include Antelope Canyon and nearby Vermillion Nat. Monument and specificlly White Pocket. I have found the following website helpful. White Pocket - Paria Plateau - Vermilion Cliffs National Monument - Arizona See topo map on bottom of that page with GPS positions and possible route information. I used GPS to find places suggested by Airforums such as Crazy Jug Point on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and found it most helpful. But from what I can tell my GPS has less information on possible roads and 4x4 trails within the Vermillion National Monument.
The other two stops previously mentioned on this thread seem inviting and I would appreciate additonal information.
