overnight stay -between London and Toronto

Hi all,

we will be traveling from Michigan to Quebec in August and are looking for a place to stay overnight somewhere in between London and Toronto to cut the trip in half.

We're looking for a free spot where we can arrive at anytime, rest for a few hours and leave.

Any suggestion?

If a truck stop will serve, there is a Flying J just west of Cambridge, on Cedar Creek road. Take the first exit to Cambridge and stay right. Go down about a half mile and look on the left. The have a decent restaurant and usually the cheapest fuel in the area.
Another option, the ON Route rest area is just east of Cambridge. Tim Horton's coffee, A&W, Yogen Fruz and a few others along with usually the priciest gas in the area. It's like the rest / fuel stops on interstate toll roads. You don't have to leave the freeway.

If you can't make the Flying 'J' at Cambridge, there is another Flying 'J' south of the 401 at London on Highbury Avenue. I see a lot of trailers and motorhomes in their lot in the mornings. There is a Dennys restaurant there and a Tim Hortons, just down the road within walking distance.

In both cases, This one and the Cambridge one, by the time you see the sign for Flying J you have blown past it. so Highbury ave N for London or Cedar Creek E for Cambridge.
Safe travels.

Martin,

When in August? Does it need to be on the 401?

August 22nd, during the evening. We don't mind going off the 401 if it's not too far. We're planning on having a short night and leaving early in the morning. We are headed to Quebec city.
