Hi all,
We just completed our "big trip" for 2008 and are happy to report that we had an incredible journey without one single problem (OK, there was one minor problem)! We were on the road for two weeks following the Old Oregon Trail from our starting point of Ft. Laramie, Wyoming to Oregon City (Portland), Oregon. After that we continued on to Astoria and then followed US Hwy 101 south along the Oregon Coast. It was absolutely amazing. We had great weather, very few construction delays and no hassles with reservations, etc... We stayed at a number of KOA's along the way but also a couple of state parks. Our favorite was Bullard's Beach S.P. south of Coos Bay, OR - nice sites (full hook-ups!), well-maintained park and facilities and a beautiful location. We highly recommend Bullard's Beach S.P. (and Farewell Bend S.P. on the Snake River, as well). In all we traveled just over 4000 miles.
As to that one minor problem - on our first day out we were on a couple of washboardy roads to the historic sites that loosened the sewer hose storage lid and before we noticed it I had lost a rubber glove somewhere on the road - my other glove and sewer hose were still in the tube. Not bad for 4000 miles.
Here are a few pics ...
