Mike & Diane -

Glad you had a good time on your maiden voyage.

If you are in Arlington, you may want to try Loyd Park. It is owned by the city of Grand Prairie and is on the shore of Joe Pool Lake on the GP side. Pretty nice park and some very nice sites. Don't let the road down to the entrance scare you. The park is very well maintained and the folks that run the thing are a friendly bunch. Shoot me a PM if you want more details.

Glad you made it through your maiden voyage in good humor and had fun despite the "surprises"... You also learned an important thing to remember...there are always kind and understanding folks in campground who will be willing to do all they can to help you through a difficult situation...all you have to do is ask. RVers are some of the friendliest folks we have ever met. Congrats and continue on the journey in good spirits (and by "good spirits," I mean don't forget the vermouth next time!)

Sounds like a good time. If you can dump the black tank without incident, and arrive back at home still speaking to one another, the trip was a success! And you remembered the important stuff - it would have been a sorry night if you had the olives & vermouth but no gin. Trailer troubles look a whole lot better through the bottom of a highball glass!

Keep us up to date on your future trips - we like to live vicariously through others when we aren't out camping ourselves. Fortunately, we're meeting up with a group of Airstreamers this weekend on the Oregon Coast. Although we still haven't de-winterized the trailer, or fixed the city water inlet (which is what is delaying the de-winterizing) or sanitized the fresh water tank, etc. Oh, well, we have until Thursday...

Thanks for sharing the fun! We are still rehabing. Our first trip plan is to move it out of the storage at the WA Land Harbour into the camping area. Obviously not very far! Close to home and easy to run back to the house for any "needed" items. When it happens we will post our experience.

Glad yours turned out successfully!

Adventures come in all sizes

Congratulations on your maiden voyage. I am glad you made it home relatively unscathed.

Your sharing the story made me chuckle. For 15 years, every trip out we have some sort of "adventure" like the ones you encountered. We never stress of this stuff and somehow it all works out in the end. This past Christmas I realized that each trip out and it's "adventures" had become our stories, when one of the nephews asked if I had any new stories about our travels. It seems the kids find it amusing when I tell our tales.

PS. I love the idea of keeping a journal. I swear I am going to write a book some day!

No olives! That is roughing it! I have vodka and olives first on my check off list!! Mine is still in the driveway awaiting her maiden voyage. I did have martinis and music on Friday " date nite" I think I enjoyed it more than my other half but can't wait for warmer weather! Sounds like a fun weekend!

The journal is a great idea. Our Trailer was my grandparents and my grandfather was the type to write everything down. We have a couple of books full airstream adventures / repairs / costs. It is neat to have! We have kept up the journaling (sp?) and do look back into the book during the winter while making the next years plan. We put in a Story about the trip / site # / weather / problems- repairs / food we had, and so on... One of us usually does the entries while the other is driving home.
Have a great day!
