Our Airstream factory journey

First kudos to Shane!

I would like to keep this thread as positive as possible as well, we love the brand and the people!!!

We arrive at the factory tomorrow, for a Tuesday appointment.

We have a bunch of stuff we need done too (some warranty some extra). I would love to get feedback on our changes and warranty for modifications we are not doing right, or we could do better...

Here is a list (be gentle!!!) 2011 30 foot international serenity.

Warranty:

-floor is squishy in kitchen hall area and bathroom toilet area too (whole hallway actually) we have seen this since we picked it up new 6 months ago. This is our biggest concern

-leak under kitchen bench happened 1 month ago, huge, couldn't find source and has not happened again

-toilet leaking (easy fix but want porcelain anyway)
-bathroom door needs to be squared
- should the bathroom door lock?
-bathroom fan not working
-microwave turn table works intermittently
-fridge doesn't work properly on propane (stopped working totally after 5 days - propane tanks still full).
-leaking kitchen faucet
-hot water tank leaking outside and making loud noises
-heat pump making odd noises and struggling to work.
-outside light broken (replace with led)
-water pump makes loud banging noises, crazy loud under kitchen sink
- horrid water pressure when hooked up to campground anywhere

Additions (we already have 2 90 watt solar panels dealer put in (love our dealer Canam in London Ontario)
- replace fantastic fan in bedroom with an additional air conditioner 13000 btu with heat pump
- replace bathroom fan with fantastic fan from bedroom
- replace toilet with a porcelain toilet.
-replace current bike rack with Airstream bike rack (can't open back storage door fully, drives me crazy!)
-add inverter
-would like current sofa lounge bottom cushions replaces with a thick dense foam that provides a lot of cushioning and support.
- fantastic fan vent covers added to both clear in bathroom- black in kitchen, clear in bathroom
- counter top extension added
-do you have a garbage solution for the space between the door wall and the lounge?
-Dimmers on two of the light switches.

any advice???

Andrew

Just curious.

Hi, with all of the fantastic things said about Andy at Can-Am, right in your neighborhood, why are you taking your trailer to Ohio? Can't Andy handle this for you?

We have been on a 6 month trip heading home, so passing buy the factory.

My understanding is dealers don't make anything on repairs ;(

Ummmm, dealers make allot on repairs at $120+ per hour service fees and then the markups on parts and supplies.

2011 model - Nice list (that's about as positive as I can get).

I asked them if they want the work, we shall see..
Air condition air they turned down ( solar in the way)

I spend as much money locally as I can!

Floor I want done at factory for sure

Hi, I agree about the floor being done at the factory. Probably better equipped to lift the body; That's pretty major.

Geez....that's alot of stuff wrong for such a new RV. If it was me I'd chalk it up to owning a lemon and figure out the most efficient manner of parting ways for another.

Reading this me makes me feel weak. I'm afraid to look for this in my 8 month old 27FB CCD.

So we made it to the factory, cool!
Chris in service came out and introduced himself while we were shopping.
Super nice guy.
So tonight in the Terraport, and bright and early to go through our list!

Here's hoping it is not a lemon...

Thumbs up

Good idea to combine the warranty, and extra work with a trip. From what I've heard, and read here, they do top notch repairs and modifications at Jackson Center. I've found the people of JC to be wonderful, and nearly everyone I met has, or had, some connection to Airstream.
Best of luck.

JC is definitely the place to get work done if you live close or are "passing thru".

We live about 100 miles away and we have used JC three times for warranty work and modifications.

How can I be positive about a nearly new trailer with soft floors that sound like they need replacement? Oh, the service center does good work; my lips are sealed about the factory.

Sounds like there are a lot of leaks to find. Looks like you be there a while and I hope you leave as happy as Shane.

Since you live in a much colder climate than Shane, if you have vinyl sheeting, it will probably develop humps in it over time since they do not provide for expansion and contraction when they install it. Ask about tiles or planks and suggest they leave expansion space around the edges and put in trim to cover that space.
