We've had twenty years with Bess, but my time finally came:We got trashed , but not mechanical. Went to Las Cruces the other day to look at a 300,passed. Heard of a 310 that needed TLC, passed. Still looking and hoping the old girl can be patched-up in Phoenix.

We did repairs like that all the time, but we now are just a parts source.

You got a ABS fairing for the right rear, Andy?

I've patched ABS fairings on light aircraft with old fashioned "dope and fabric" (No, not that kind of dope.). Done right and sanded smooth, no one can find the repair.

Yours would be quite a project, but could be done with patience and some skill with jigsaw puzzles.

A good aircraft sheet metal mechanic could have a respectable patch on that tear in a couple days time. It's even easier than aircraft repair, because one can use Olympic rivets and such on an Airstream. Those wouldn't be legal on an airplane.

Sorry to hear about Bess. That's a situation I hope I never encounter. Good luck in your search for parts and I hope you can save her.

I'm not sure that MH would help you. Looking at the front of it and the window type makes me think it was a TT put onto a truck or bus chassis. Also note the "belly pan" part in photos.

O U C H !!! I feel for you...there was a moho in Eloy several years ago...engine pulled from the front...diesel?...might have been a 310...parked in front of a repair shop on a major side street perpendicular to IH 10...
Also remember a moho in Tucson at a storage yard east of Prince on IH 10. And, lastly, check with Oasis in Tucson...they might have something...
Ken in Tucson might be a good contact(4CU). mike

Hey Michael! Have not heard from you in a while. Did you sell your 345 and get back to Colorado? All the best, we're in Ajo for the season.

I'm not so sure you are talking about the ones I posted. I assure you it started its life as a MoHo and is still a MoHo and not a trailer on a truck chassis. But, I am out of the connection, I sent Mike the info and he can pursue the deal.

Talked with Andy this AM, he thinks he can find the parts for Bess. Only problem is who in Phoenix or Tucson can do the repair? If the insurance company totals us, big deal, though after 40 years of AS insurance, I'll be upset, but move on.

Mike.

I don't see it even close to a total loss.

Problems come from insurance companies that don't know very much about Airstreams.

Keep me posted, as you know I wrote the Airstream crash book.

Let me know if I can help you with the insurance issues.

Andy

Hey Mike,
Sell the 345???? I'm gonna be buried in it. Been practicing that act for years. We're in Austin, doing 'things'...living in Scrap-2 for about a year now. Did get to visit the home without wheels for a couple of months this summer. Missing AZ something awful, but I'm fairly certain it will wait for us. I know Oasis used to do some metal work...their history with mohos is not so certain. The once Beaudry's RV Park in Tucson is supposed to be a new AS dealer...next to Camping World. You would think that a town with Davis-Monthans AFB would have some pretty decent sheet aluminum workers... Good luck with Bess...she's not ready for retirement until you are!
