What kind of comments do you folks hear on your Airstreams? We don't see many in our travels, and we are usually the only one in the campground. It's fun to listen to peoples comments as they walk by ours. We have heard lots of amusing comments such as:
1. "That my dear, is the most expensive travel trailer on the planet"
2. " I wonder what those things look like inside?"
3. "Do they still make those?"
4. "Wow!, what is that thing? I've never seen one of those before!"
5. "People that have those are usually snobs."
6. "That trailer you've got there is the king of the road".
7. "I'd buy one of those, if they made a fifth wheel".
8. "That thing looks like a submarine".
10. From a 16 year old girl: "Wow that is the coolest looking camper I have ever seen!"
What comments can the rest of you share?

"What year is that?" Most folks won't believe that my trailer is brand new. They insist that I have restored it 'cause "They don't make them any more, do they?"
Another frequent comment is tht the person is going to buy an Airstream someday. I even get this sometimes in gas stations, most recently from a guy driving about a 20-year old junker.

I SO agree! I hear that at work...ALL the time because we have some pictures of Luna on various camping trips.
But then they ALSO say that "they're going to open an antique shop some day."
yeah, right.. they don't have TEN BUCKS to start a lay-a-way, but they're going to esaily do what WE do.

Reason: fixed quote
On our first non-AS rally camping trip...
While we were setting up the Park Ranger whipped in and jumped out of his truck...
Walking quickly toward us, I'm thinking 'crap, what did we do wrong?'
He comes right up in my face, shakes my hand, and says...
"Best Looking Rig We Have Had In Here All Year!"
This was early March, so did not carry much weight, but I knew his meaning.
He looked it all over, not asking to see inside.
Was our buddy the whole time.
We were there with friends that just became campers in their new SOB TT.
Parked in adjoining spots we had tables pulled together in middle.
As visitors would come by and ask for tours...
I would jump up enthusiastically and lead them over to the SOB,
Talking about how it was new etc, not giving them a chance to speak...
Was very good when they would freeze, not wanting to dissapoint,
Try to explane they wanted to see the Airstream.
(yes we tried to talk friends into a AS before they bought the SOB)
And then there's always the "I remember those from when I was a kid!" and the "My fill-in relative here had one of those Airstreamer things" and finally, "Didn't they used to have clubs & round the world trips in those?"
Having never owned an RV before, I was shocked at the number of people that gather around when I pull into a campground , or that want to talk about it when parked.
It is not infrequent to have a small crowd of men standing around as I empty the tanks, longingly admiring the trailer, or waving goodbye as we leave the campground office. My wife can't believe how many people truly yearn and aspire to own an Airstream. We are often asked if they can tour the inside. Rather humbling actually.
The most frequent comment I get is "that is the most beutiful trailer on the road", along with the others already mentioned.
