Yup, we tried to go up Devil's Canyon, but got turned around because of snow.

Willamette Valley

Pam and I love to take day trips into the Willamette Valley in September. So much to see and do. Great fresh fruit and vegetable stands and every town have farmers markets. We love to take the old highways 99E and 99W and any other highways south of eugene staying off of I-5 so much to see but at a nice slow pace.
We love other areas as much there is so much diversity in Oregon you will not be disappointed.
Even if you decide to visit Portland, just stay aways out and drive in to town for a visit. A very nice city for food and fun.

If you're in Portland and are a reader, be sure to hit Powell's Books. Best book store on earth!

I was on the Oregon coast last June/July. I had no trouble finding space in the state parks during the week without reservations. Many of the state parks keep "walk in" space available. It is probably more difficult is you are arriving on the weekend. I just made sure I had my space before the crowds came.

Here are a few pics of the coast and Crater Lake.

I am new to Forum, but like so many others I am so impressed with all the response. The pictures are so wonderful. I have been going to Oregon most summers for 12 years and thought I has seen it, now I know I need to go back lots more.

I am a Brit that has been living in Portland for about 9 years. If you swing by Portland come say hello, I will gladly take you for a day out in the city - just make sure you are hungry and thirsty!

My blog is crap, but it is all Oregon, so check it out.

If you are going coastal, I will definitely recommend Pacific City and Lincoln City (eat at Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay). There is an amazing beach at Neskowin Bay, that is where to go for sunset

Hood River is a must, such a fun town, check out the air museum, Double Mountain brewery. Go for hikes at Mt hood.

Bend is just blowing up right now, definitely head there and stop at Smith Rock while you are at it.

Crater Lake is just crazy beautiful... It should be on peoples bucket list.

The gorge is just amazing. We spend a lot of time there. Maryhill on the WA side has a full size replica of Stone henge!

Wine, beer and hard cider being made everywhere. Food to die for. Prices that won't kill you. The friendliest people you will ever meet.

Oh it just goes on and on!

To help us find some out of the way campground in Oregon... (And we also ordered one in this series for Washington that runs considerably smaller.)..... We ordered off of Amazon, Camping Oregon - A Falcon Guide by Rhonda and George Ostertag.

If you get to Portland, be sure and visit the Pearl Bakery in the Pearl District, near Powell Bookstore, best French bakery in Portland. Try their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!!

There is not much to add to this fantastic thread, but boy am I thankful I've lived in Oregon pretty much my entire life and may I never take it for granted! A few of my personal favorites - Silver Falls State Park, Camp Sherman near Sisters, Crater Lake and Beverly Beach State Park.
