Oregon here we come!!

So the trip is almost all planed. Spending Aug 12-16 in Canon beach and Nehalem Bay state park.
Plus the 2-3 day drive out and back. Not sure where we will stay on that part of the leg yet.

The Trip gets interesting though. It's not worth the wife taking 5-6 days off to spend driving out there. So we are picking her up in Portland on the evening of the 11th.

This means I'm traveling by myself with my 8 year old daughter, 5 year old son, and 17 month old twins girls. This one is sure going to be an adventure.

I usually just drive through on trips like this, but the twins are not going to stand for a 19-20 drive.

So I'm looking for a place to stay between Brigham City Utah and Burley Idaho, which is 9 hours from home the max I want to drive in one day..
Then I have friends in the Tri Cities to stay with then on to Portland.

I need an Rv site near the airport. There seem to be lots. Anyone know anything about them?

You are a very brave man. I speak from experience. I have three girls, 9,5, and 2. I am done after about 1.5 hours.

Very best of luck to you my friend..As for a place to stay, I have nothing for you.

Have fun! I'd normally be doing the same thing as you with my 4 and 2 year old but they're already out in California staying with Grandma and Granddad. I'm driving out to pick up my wife on Saturday and then we're driving up to Oregon from the Bay Area. Not sure where we're staying yet but I think we'll drive into Eugene and then head West to Florence for a spell and then just cruise south. I'd love to head all the way up to Astoria and go down through Seaside but I don't think we'll have the time. Who knows, I'm being way too laxidasical about planning this trip but I figured we have a weeks window of just me and the misses to day whatever so who knows we're we'll end up.

It's our 10th anniversary on the 4th so just having some time to hang-out and do nothing while relaxing in the Airstream is plenty fine with us.

Jason,

The trip with the kids will end up being one of those things you will look back on in the future and feel blessed that you got to experience. To this day one of my fondest memories is when my daughter was eight or nine, and one summer just the two of us spent a week driving to California to pick up a piano and visit her great grandmother. We had the best daughter/dad time ever. Just one of those things that I can get all teary-eyed about when I look at her now at the age of 20. Enjoy my friend, it is all over sooner than you think!

I would definitely plan on at least three days minimum from Colorado to Oregon with some kids along. Enjoy the Oregon coast.

Tim

Report back on the trip, hopefully with pics of camping on the coast. We're trying to decide if we want to rent a Class B moho and spend a few days on the coast along with a visit to Portland.

Sounds like a fun trip!!! Enjoy the kids while they are young. Post pics as you travel, if possible. Oregon is a long way from Alabama, so I may not ever get the chance to camp there.

If you are staying in Seaside, OR, you might want to take a day trip to Long Beach, Washington. The Washington State International Kite Festival starts on Monday August 15th, and goes through Sunday August 21st. It is one of the three best kite festivals in the US, and certainly the biggest, best, and most colorful on the West Coast.

This will be our eight year.

Have a great trip! Nehalem Bay State Park is one of our favorite places; we stay there at least once a year. The beach is beautiful, and the kids will be entertained for hours playing in the sand. Long Beach, Astoria, Seaside, Tillamook, Newport, etc... well, you'll enjoy any (or all) of them. I hope you'll post pictures along the way!

I wish I had some RV park recommendations for you, but I've never actually looked at any near the airport. Hopefully someone else will chime in!

Safe travels,
Sharon

Ok 5 days and counting. We leave early Tue morning.
I have four cushions left to get fabric on. and the AS to clean.

Had a plumbing leak. The shower valve must have had water in it, so it totally froze and cracked the plastic. Had to put in a whole new valve.

Got my trim painted, and oven working again. Will post some pics as we head out. Stoping in snowville UT tue night.

Oh, I had to adjust the air bladders I have in the rear coil springs on the Sequoia. The tubes coming out the bottom of the plate didn't line up with the holes right. Had to enlarge the holes in the bottom plate. It rides so much better with 10-15 psi in them.

RV park in portland was OK. Stacked in like sardines.. At a park in Cannon beach for tonight and tomorrow. Then of to the state park south of Cannon beach. Nice weather and not much wind. Only have seen 1 other AS on the road the whole way out here.
