Orcas Campgrounds

Does anyone have any recommendations for campgrounds, trailer sites, etc. on Orcas Island or Whidbey Island in Washington---thinking about going up in early April.

Thanks,

Lochsa

I can recommend Deception Pass, on the North end of Whidbey. Gorgeous views, right on the water, and lots of hiking trails. It's one of our favorite parks.

Sorry, I haven't camped on Orcas - yet.

We camped on Orcas Island a few years back at West park, I think, which was a private R.V. and cabin resort. Beautiful views and a dock, and marina to watch the action. Our favorite is the county park on Lopez just south of the ferry landing about 1 mile. No hook-ups but you are right on the water, I mean 20 feet if you get a front row spot. We try to stay at least a week, all the holding tank will do. We would walk to the ferry and take it to Friday Harbor for showers at the Marine, have lunch, shop, then head back to the ferry and home. I got to the point that I could tell the time by the ferrys going by. I have no idea about cost of the ferry ride with the price of gas. the last time we went it was over $150.00 I think, but worth it. Boy, I would love to head up there this summer!!!
