Recent tornado and weather alerts pending...but probably 44 to bentonville > oak city for the memorial. Last year it was too hot to leave the pooches for too long. Then to Denton (n of Dallas) for the bush 43 library and a Robeson 55+ community, then hopefully thru pho and on the lake havassau to visit a friend. Prefer to save 70 over the rockies for a later season.

Glad you got some good weather in Washington MO. The river is up and moving lately. That’s a neat river front there. Fun roads from there all the way to Jefferson City. At least stop off in Herman MO. Nice town. Try some Missouri wine.

Hey GA, !ove Herman. It has been a number of years. Lately the relatives driving have been heading across the river to Augusta. Still learning the wines...hard enough to loose of the Sonoma County Zin/Cab preference and convert to OR pinots...still not there.

Peter, passed on Bransom. But thanks for the links!!!

We were there last year on our Nashville trip, but was disappointed. Seems it is all about time share sales and knock off acts vx. Live name acts. Might be a season tbing?? However there is a city or county rv park, right on the river just down from the huge Bass Pro store. Seems i posted a pick last year, but I'll have to look. it was great, auidt and close to the "strip". We followed I44 to Joplin and down to Bentonville also where we stayed last year...same trip.

https://nwarvresort.com

And i thought rain !ike heck thunder/lightening storms were a MO function....oops S of Joplin is MO.I

Will preview some housing for a day or two.

I thought I was on some pretty thin ice recommending some MO wines to someone from OR. I can enjoy some Nortons, but that’s about it.

Travel safe, and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Before OR was Sonoma County. Talk about stuck in the mud for wine preference. Truly we have not ket go. Also add Paso Robles for cabs and zins.

I hear ya on the Norton. I think Mo makes some good wines, they're just from varities i'm not familiar with and take some time to learn about. I grew up in Contra Costa co and our family used to picnic in Napa when there were more prunes and walnuts than grapes....basically three wineries offering tasting, Christian bro, Beringer and Krug. That all changed in the late 60's.

Watch the movie, bottle shock, if you can find it.I

GA, congrats on the Aug date! Way cool.

If your journey bring you to norcal from socal, think hwy 101 and the Paso Robles wine country too. It is what Napa/Sonoma used to be 30+ years ago..great wine...smaller crowds.

We landed in Oklahoma City on Thursday after some horrendous rains and wind. We're staying st the Mustang Run RV Park on I40. A little noisy from the bighway, but clean and comfortable and a short drive to the monument.
Still windy here but warmer and lighter. This a.m. we visited the OkCity National Monument. A great museum experience. Very sad that so many were lost.

Tomorrow we're heading to the Dallas area to see a retirement community and visit the bush43 pres lib at SMU.

Hoping for a transition go warmer cloths.

Thanks for the update. The outlook is for below-average temps in the SW:

6-10 days out: https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/produc...10temp.new.gif
8-14 days out: https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/produc...14temp.new.gif

. . . not exactly the SW heat wave you might have been wishing for, sorry to say . . .

. . . but warm enough to have fun any place you go!

Have you been to Carlsbad Caverns, mentioned earlier when you were transiting Van Horn Texas? They used to have day kennels there for parking the dogs.

https://www.nps.gov/cave/index.htm
https://www.nps.gov/cave/planyourvisit/pets.htm

Be sure to ask about the tour during which they turn off all the lights, and ask everyone to stay silent. Eerie . . . you have never seen "dark" like this!

You could stay in the same Van Horn CG, and take a day trip north on Texas highway 54.

Van Horn S/T forecast: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...Type=graphical

Happy Trails!

Peter, thanks for the weather and caverns tips. Never been there so may jostle the schedule.

Btw, forgot to mention the survivor tree at the OkCity memorial.

Quite a story and inspiring to see the first buds pushing out. Life continues snd remains strong.

Beautiful and warm day day in Denton today....66 break out the shots and flipflops.

Visited historic downtown...still struggling a bit but healthy growth all around and some around the square. Checked out Robson Ranch a 55+ active community and had a great time. Nice project in the "stay on the list" column. Many have been scratched off.
Tomorrow is Waco...an easy jaunt.

Stayed in Destiny Dallas RV Park in Denton(corinth??). Many long term residents, but they out that on their website. Used the Texas saver card = CW but free. Tariff was $33 nt. No cable but the sat came thru. Lots of oaks just budding out...nice for the warm summer. Not a spit and polish place but clean and staff and residents very friendly. We had a great spot under the oaks.
