On the road. From Allberta to Disneyland

So, I lfinally left. After 4 years of my last Camping trip. I worked and worked in my 68 overlander. It had to be ready for this month long trip.
Sealing windows and seams... checked
Testing the 50 yr old AC for complete days...checked
Awning...checked
Electrical....checked
Fridge in gas and electrical mode...checked
Tires, bearings and brakes....checked
Fresh water system... remove previous owner plastic rubbing patches and replace with cooper lines, pump. Replaced water inlet .... checked
Water heater in gas and electrical .... checked
Stove/oven/heater..... checked
Control panel. Fixed ....checked
Univolt, brand new... checked
Sewer system.... checked
Propane lines.... checked
Marker lights, replaced with LED.... checked
Replace interior light bulbs with LED, checked
Battery, new one...checked
Polish and detailing.... checked

After 2000miles one way trip so far
One cooper fitting leaking water, put a clamp with rubber.... seems ok for now

AC drain clogged, siphoned at 4am, and at 10 am went under to blow air in the drain pipe,, is draining. Not great but it is.

Sewer pipes have dried seals, tried to replace them. Bought a kit. Not very good. Thetford fittings are different. Sort of works for now.

One broken bed at 1 am, took it apart and re screwed it, remove some nails in favor of screws. Fixed nicely.

This is half of the trip. Will see how it continues.

Cheers

Considering that you have not camped in your Airstream for 4 years, those are very minor problems to have after 2,000 miles of travel. Good job of preparation on your part.

Trip done

5000 miles
One accident, somebody hit me in the right front fender 😠, luckily the vehicle was not disabled.
Camped in:Montana by Shelby($25), liked there,
Clark Canyon ($30), nice spot, Yuba, UT, ($30)park. Anaheim RV Park, by Disneyland ($480 week), nice spot and very clean. Santa Cruz redwoods resort, ($65night), some Walmart in Nevada, back to Clark Canyon, then Home.

Trailer: 1968 overland 26D
Equiped: original fridge, (replaced electrical heating element last year) original A/C, original water pump( I rebuild it last year), original furnace, (I serviced it two yes ago), new 2 way water heater, installed it last year, new RV battery, replaced es interior lights with LEDs, new side markers LEDs

Tow vehicle: 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with 3.0L Mercedes TurboDiesel.

Statistics:
About 65-70mi/h cruising speed
3.900 lb dry weight in trailer, + 500lb extras
About 250-300mi range per tank
4 people in car
Around 8 - 10 hrs driving
Home in Alberta to Anaheim 4 days (including one day in great falls,)

What went right?
Tow vehicle a STAR while pulling all the way, with the AC on at 95F.
50 yr old A/C, in trailer was flawless, furnace keep us warm while at the redwoods. Water heater worked beautiful on Gas. (Never tried eclectic mode), fridge awesome on electrical. Sewer system all good.

What went wrong?
Water leak in a draining valve, 5 min patch, very accesible.
Clogged drain to empty the water condensed at te AC
Fridge has a propane leak between the thermostat valve and the jet for the burner. So only when on smelled like gas. So didn’t use the fridge in gas mode
The bed came apart, my wife put all the weight in the edge and something broke. I grab my trusty screw driver, hammer, took it apart and replace nails with screws and ended better than before

I’ll keep posting more post trip comments and pics later

Cheers
