Bit of a blowout today, hot as hell so I figured I would use AAA, but my basic membership doesn't cover the camper. None the less, took about 20 minutes, and I was back on the road. Pulled over the next exit at a tire shop to pick up a new tire, didn't feel confortable driving without a spare.

First time changing a flat on the camper, easy enough though. Glad i had a bottle jack and a piece of wood

Next time drive the other tire up on blocks and the flat will be free standing. If the rear tire is flat put levelers under the front tire by driving up on and the rear tire will be free. No jack needed. Jim

No easy way to leave Eureka, California and get on I - 80. Took me all day to get out of the mountains and then I had to decide whether to head cross country towards Lassen National Park or head south on I - 5 to catch I - 80. I chose the hwy and get a flat lol. Took all day to get to Nevada and I got pretty far across before I called it a night. I spent another full day yesterday on the road and made it to Fort Collins, Colorado by 7 or so.

My aunt lives here so I made dinner with her and slept in!

Today I spent checking out an Alaskan Camper dealer in town. They only have a few authorized dealers. They are american made and have a long proud history like Airstream. I have a 1973 model but it was nice to finally see a new one in person.

The rest of the day I have spent at Belgium Brewery in town and took the tour. Fort Fun has been a good stop so far

Well I left Colorado on Friday morning and made it back to Ohio on Sunday, I had to do some Army stuff on Tuesday and pick a boat up that I bought in Indiana.

But I have decided to extend my trip a little longer, I don't have to report back work until the 14th so I am going to head North and take the camper to Maine. I plan to spend a night in the Adirondack's and then push up to Maine to do the 100 mile wilderness hike of the Appalachian trail. So the journey continues. On the road currently in Ohio bound for pennsylvania for the night

You do realize that the biggest, funest rally of the year is this weekend at Pennwood in PA? See the Fall Colors thread.

All the cool kids are going.......

Never been to a rally, I made it to Jersey Shore Haven last summer, so I wouldn't mind adding Pennwoods to the list. I will see how my itinerary can be changed to see if it's possible for me to meet the cool kids lol

Well after 10500 miles and going coast to coast, my trip has come to a close. I had a great time in Maine and really enjoyed hanging out in Bar Harbor. I learned a lot of little things during my travels about the camper and towing that I will carry forward in future trips. I did get another flat in Maine and went ahead and replace the remaining tires. Jackson Center had recommended i replace them prior to the trip based on their age, and in hind sight I should have taken the advice.

I enjoyed some great seafood in Maine and caught the Fall just right. I had hoped to hike 100 miles of the Appalachian trail but after a night in the rain and the mud I knew I wouldn't complete the hike in my allotted time, so I do have in finished business that will bring me back to Maine.
