Your wife's cousin should have had a radar detector detector detector.

Actually our radar detector does detect radar detector detectors, but moving is off the dash fast enough is not easy.

Yukon bans them, can't remember the others in Canada. The only US places I recall are Va. and DC.

But Jay, we Americans from the southwest do need radar detectors because when we see those 100 km. speed limits, we go 100 mph.

More seriously, I noticed that Canadians do drive slower than I do coming from a state with interstate limits at 75 mph and 65 mph on rural 2 laners. It is scary to drive in parts of Texas with 85 mph limits, so it is all relative to what you are used to. In western Canada we see very few cops, unlike many states, so there is not the enforcement we have here.

Another item for Americans in Canada. You are supposed to get an insurance card showing your US insurance company covers you in Canada, but I suspect most never do. When we go to Canada, we get the card, but it takes about a month to get it from Progessive. Why they don't just print it on the regular insurance card is beyond me.

May your trip to Canada be the best ever!

Radar Detectors are illegal to use in Manitoba as well. OK to use in Saskatchewan.

And there are also laws against having the propane on. Last I checked it was true in Manitoba and Nova Scotia. We made it across Manitoba several years ago without getting caught.

Canadian laws on certification of the tanks are stricter than the US. In the US it is every 12 years, Canada, 10. When you go to fill a tank in Canada they are not supposed to fill them if it hasn't been certified within 10 years.

And the money is very colo(u)rful.

I think next time we go we will follow I-81 up to the border and then across. After a stop at the Turning Stone Casino near Rome.

I crossed from NY over to Kingston, ON last summer. I was on a motorcycle, so this didnt bother me, but if I remember correctly. The ferry from NY to Wolf Island was pretty small. The ferry from Wolf Island to Kingston was pretty good sized.
You may want to check ahead of time if there are length limits on the ferry out of Cape Vincent NY. It's a long way down there to have to turn back.
Just a head's up..
