OFF the road...

I know this is the On The Road forum, but I hate being Off The Road! My Tin Goat sits in the storage yard and yes, I go visit it from time to time. I walk in it and recall every second of fantastic camping last season. I can't WAIT to be ON the road - still 2 months away...

I can't be alone with this problem. Please help me, friends! How the heck am I going to hang in there 2 more months before traveling again?!?!

This would be an easier question to answer if we knew which of you was posting. The only thing I'm pretty, but not fully, sure of is that it's not Daisy.

My first though for Stevesuemac was : don't wait go camping, but with my today's reading, I won't say that. I thing I should use my tent and my FW for an other month or two and don't expose the AS to snow and salt.
Like him, I look at her everyday waiting for spring....

Make plans for your camping experiences this year?

Places to go, things to do, new dishes to try over a fire.......

Thank you all. First, Ken - it's Steve (not Sue or Daisy) posting.

Great suggestions. We have planned 2014's trips. I just don't know how I'm going to get through the next 2 months waiting for our first trip in 2014 - our first visit to the Mothership!

So hard to not be camping!!!

waiting

it's the hardest part. When I'm out in the drive where mine is kept, I tell her how long it is til we go, and about my plans. As of today it's 30 days til departure. I have been slowly buying things for her. I know what needs cleaning/work (too cold so far to do) and made plans to address. I also have made 4 trips planned out including reservations and directions. Hang in there. John

Steve absolutely understand where you are coming from. Today it was 67 degrees and sunny. Fortuately for me my wife had plans for the day otherwise I would have gone to the storage yard and sat in a lawn chair next to the airstream dreaming of being in a forest sitting next to a fire.

When we first moved here, I made a deal with my wife. I would stop bitching about the weather and wanting to move, if I have total control of whether or not I go outside anytime the temperature is below 45 degrees. So far that is almost all the time this year. Once the weather starts to improve, I start puttering around with the trailer and truck, getting it "ready" even if its three months to the next trip. Up until that happens, I go to Google earth and street view and tour the world or look for good camping places. The other thing I do when I get bored is try to cause trouble on Airforums.

I went out yesterday to "visit" ours...and make sure it wasn't blown off the jack stands with the 55mph winds we had last week. All was fine, but I am more worried about the 4' drift in front of it that has now turned to a solid block of ice after 1.5" rain that came with the wind. We leave for our spring break trip in a little over 3 weeks. With another cold snap all week this week and a hectic business travel schedule, I'm not sure how or when I'll be able to get it out to unwinterized and move back in it. And that's all IF the ice melting cooperates.

Thanks all. It's good to know I'm not alone.

I JUST WANT TO GO CAMPING!!!!!! :-D

Honestly - why did I wait so long to buy an Airstream? Every minute I'm not in it seems wasted! Ok, that's a bit over dramatic for effect. But really, I just want to hit the road and never look back!!

Oh Airstream - what have you done to me?!?!

hi from NJ, I feel the same, I have the same over 4' solid ice blocking my getting out. I have no propane, so I can't even go sit in the Airstream and putter around. We have had NO snow melt, it is freezing everyday. We are going out in less than three weeks, I will not dewinterize, no need as we will be in campground with bathrooms, I just have to get out of my own darn driveway. I have to get propane, but can't get to the tanks. Maddening.

Oh, man. We can't even visit ours! We store it inside a shed at our other farm and we can't get to it because the snow is so deep. We want to go to a rally next month but I am not sure we will be able to get to the trailer to bring it home.

Maddening is the right phrase. I'm going to have to reconnect the batteries (they're in my basement on a charger for the winter), de-winterize and hit the road or I'm gonna explode! :-)

I know - first world problems :-)

My brother has brand new huge Class A SOB, his batteries completly froze. We were on a maintenance of three day charge, 5 days off and then hubby ran over not one but two extension cords with snowblower....don't get me started on that, just thankful he did not hit my 30 amp cord.

I just booked a hotel for grandchildren's weekend incase I can't get out and they are not happy! They r young, a simple play set keeps them happy for hours, we stay at same small campground in Ronks, backed up to fence of a farm, it is beautiful, easy and so needed. i'm working 7 days a week now, so ready for a little time off.

We need to find a massive canopy to park under... The Edwardjones dome in St. Louis, perhaps? Somewhere to drive into and park for a week with other Streamers, no risk of bad weather!

Sue and I went to the trailer together today. She brought the perfect bedding for the bed. A great C-company set we've had but not used for years. Is it ABSOLUTELY perfect! Did some measuring for the bike approach and table situation. I added some air and covers to the tires. God it felt so good to just be on the trailer together (including take out Chinese lunch :-) ).

Camping starts in 4 weeks. I hope I can hang in there without going completely crazy!!
