Off the beaten path to Little Rock from Dallas

Have done the I-30 thing to death and wondered if anyone has towed on US 70 through Oklahoma and Arkansas lately? Did the google map thing but you can only tell so much from the imagery.....

Thanks
Dana

I took the 70 route last time I traveled from Little Rock to NM.

I took this route for the very same reason you posted. It was a welcome departure from the mundane, I highly recommend it, it is gorgeous. (Especially through rural AR)

The pavement condition is much better than I40 in my opinion. It is mostly all two lane.

For me it was a chill and relaxing drive. There was a little construction in Oklahoma, but nothing bad though.

Compared to the rat race on 30 between Little Rock and Dallas, it was almost euphoric.... Light traffic, smooth roads, easy driving.

Arkansas has some wonderful state parks along your route.

Thanks Handyman. I just booked our night at Beavers Bend

And I agree. Arkansas has some of the nicest state parks I have ever seen. White River/Bull Shoals may be the nicest state park we have ever camped at.

Taking 70 to Memphis from Little Rock instead of I-40 is preferable to me as well. Road much smoother and little traffic. It is 2 lanes only though.

and to take it a bit further . . .

Has anyone towed on US 79 between Memphis and Russellville KY recently?

on google street view it looks like pretty good two lane road through some pretty country

anything to watch out for like 30 mile repaving projects or anything of that nature?

Thanks
Dana
