Off season camping

So we're heading out middle of October but unsure where to go. We live in SW Ontario and were thinking either heading to the east coast of Canada (NS, PEI,) or heading to east coast US (Maine, NH etc) to see the leaves.

Problem is most campgrounds shut down just before we head out so where would we stay?

Our other option would be take a run down the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Any thoughts anyone?

Blue Ridge Parkway is always open and beautiful in the fall. Also, the colors will be around longer down here than up north, simply because of weather. Enjoy whereever you go!

the Blueridge is where we're leaning towards.

We were also thinking about Myrtle Beach but then I checked the weather, rain. Hurricane season I guess.

How is diesel fuel access along or near the Blueridge?

The section we ran in August was slow and stunning but fuel is only available in the towns off of the parkway. We ran from the Virginia border all the way to Asheville NC with out seeing any fuel stops. The brochures will tell you to plan on 35 mph to enjoy the beauty but towing slows the progress even more. The last 50 miles into Asheville are really slow, it's not possible to average much over 30 without dumping the cabinets.
It's a great drive but plan ahead. We documented our entire journey in a "Head for the Hills!" thread.

I don't think we have an "off" season in California!
The Northern Ca. coast is most stunning during the winter months!

From what I hear the 'off' season is when you whip out a blueboy and tee 'off' the camp host...

courtesy parking

You might want to click on the courtesy parking section (left side of the screen on the portal page) and see if there are any forums members who live in the section of the country that you are traveling through too. We offer courtesy parking sw of Cleveland and have met some wonderful people who have become good friends with whom we keep in touch. Such fun!

now that's a fun drive. Are you driving through the States or Canada? Should be some beautiful scenery either way.

Canamrv is just down the road from me. Our 27FB is patiently waiting for us there...

Have a great trip.
