restrictions?

Now I'm really hesitant to purchase a MH if I won't be able to park it at any place I want to or can, if I get tired if driving! But I heard that if one becomes a member of some expensive RV clubs, that it's exclusive for them only. Sounds like fulltiming can get hefty expensive.

Don't let this thread discourage you. There are plenty of places to park/camp for reasonable prices or free. In a discussion on this subject on another board many of the members concluded with an Airstream it was not so much the age as the condition. Most older Airstreams are well maintained and park management really can't tell if it is a 1982 or 1997. Fudge on the age and they have been able to park where they wanted. The age limit is to keep SOBs out that have self destructed at 10-15 years.

Restrictive Parking

RIGHT ON JOHN...
At least here's a "John" who makes sense! You are absolutely 100 percent correct! Lots of places to park.

And you make a list of all the people who say, "When you get out this way, let me know, you can park in my yard.." (I've had lots of people tell me that...from every corner of the map in the States and from east to west in the Provinces.

Then, there's the beaches, and there's the retails stores (shhhhhhhhhhhhhh)... lots of places.

and John you are so right about the age thing. Lots of those parks just love having an Airstream come in....as long as it's shiney and well kept. What you said about the reason...it's not insurance companies at all! I found that out. It's just as you said...they want to keep the trashy units out! period! that's why I have my Group (below)...b/c. b/c b/c...

:O)

What does SOB mean, besides the obvious epithet that most are familiar with?

As a matter of fact, there is a documentary running on Trio right now that deals with this, called "Rubber Tramps" No conclusions, just examination of lifestyle of "full timers" in home made or very old rigs.

MMM. Read this one for the first time it seems and I was right there up until the middle of the post.

I can see why there are limits and I too have seen some real trailer trash in some campgrounds over the years.

In the end, I don't make policy where I visit and that's what's great about livin' in the USA. We have choices we can exercise. I say if there is trailer trash at a particular place, let 'em have it. There are other places and we have feet! -l-<

I think you meant "thread" (rather than "post") ... didn't you?

...but, I wasn't lost.
& I've gotten too many PMs from others who weren't lost either.

...for those who got lost 1/2 way down this thread, this subject of "trailer trash" .........applies to 'threads' as well,,,.
Just like RV parks, if the thread doesn't 'speak' to your trend of thought...you can always start a new one.

This thread reminds me of a campground near us that went to "hell in a handbasket". It is a gorgeous 46 acres, real potential. But the guy who owns it lets transients and "druggies" stay there real cheap. The local police dept. spends most of their time there. Sad, because at one time the place was a wonderful campground. (30 years ago). If one were to purchase it, and do renovations, it could be a real goldmine, as it is just off I90. First thing I would do, if I bought it would be to take a nice drive on a D8.

where is this hell's 40-acres 'handbasket' ..which State? I wanna buy one like that. First thing, I'd do is...>>>> at the risk of having all of you "knowledge kings" come back at a 'fledgling' like me too hard...,,,

Pick? what's a "D8".?

Cat,
I read your last post and then went back to the beginning of the thread. I think all of us become a little leary when we drive into a campground and it looks like it is in shambles. Too much junk laying around or unkept areas make me wonder if there is any organization much less any rules that are being enforced. I don't see any difference between the fulltimer and the weekender in that if you do not have pride in your unit, yourself and the campground you are staying in then it will reflect negatively on you and those around you. I'm not sure if we are singing off the same sheet of music or not but I thought we were.
