Nice RV parks in Scottsdale or Phoenix?

Hello all!

Can you suggest an upscale RV park that is close to the city center of either of these 2 cities?

We stayed at a nice park outside of Scottsdale by the Fort McDowell casino but it was not convenient when we wanted to shop in Scottsdale at the mall or meet friends for dinner/drinks in Scottsdale. It was a 30 minute (at least) drive to and from the RV park.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Thank you!

We rented a townhouse in Scottsdale for December-January last year and I looked at the campgrounds in the area, and quite honestly, did not find any that would be considered "upscale". The State/County park campgrounds are great, but I just did not see any long-term parks I would want to stay at in the Scottsdale/North Phoenix area.

Maybe there are facilities that I just missed. I did not get down to Mesa but there may be one there.

One two old RV parks in Scottsdale and they are full this time of year. If you have a smart phone download “Allstays” app and look for a RV park that fits your needs.

Granted everybody's definition of upscale is different.

However there are no upscale RV parks in Scottsdale at all.

There are three RV parks in Scottsdale. Scottsdale RV Ranch in midtown is exceedingly small and full. The RV park at 7000 E Continental, the Wheel Inn Ranch is in transition from a mobile home park and practically full. The third park is in North Scottsdale and it is more of a dirt parking lot near a horse facility called Westworld that offers RV parking.

If you would like proximity to Scottsdale restaurants, bars and shopping you might consider staying at the Casino Arizona or Talking Stick but that would just be a parking lot also.

The nicer and larger parks in Phoenix would be at the North End of the city as you are leaving on I-17.

The city of Mesa has some very nice RV parks. Your best bet on those would be as a previous poster said to look on Allstays. From there you could judge how nice and how many amenities you would like and you could get ratings from other customers.

It is our busy season so if you find a vacancy you might want to take it and then you can still travel from park to park to see if you can find yourself a nicer location.

Cave Creek Regional County park is a great place but at the extreme north end of Scottsdale.

[QUOTE=Hittenstiehl;2054553]Granted everybody's definition of upscale is different.

This is a great topic;

In the RV camping world, my definition of upscale is different than the definition for a hotel/resort. Upscale in an RV park really just means that it is well maintained and mature landscaping with atheistically pleasing features; paved roads with curb and gutter and concrete pads; well spaced sites; clean, functional and pleasing toilets and showers; professional management and secure grounds. I think of Crown Villa in Bend, OR; Grizzly in West Yellowstone; Zion River RV Resort near Springdale, UT; James H Robb Colorado State Park in Fruita, CO; West Glacier KOA. I would not consider these "Fancy and over the top", but clean and well maintained. Too many RV parks have a "man camp" vibe to them; weeds growing out of the grass outside your door; cramped and just plain depressing. This is the one downside of RVing of not having a wider selection of RV Park facilities.

I am surprised that there is not a "nice, upscale" park in North Scottsdale.

Steamy it, north Scottsdale would be a great location for a nice park but they save the property for big development and high end homes.

Mesa has the nice RV park and reaps the visitor money.
